Probably the most juvenille question I could possible ask.....

Just curious and I know it's a dumb question...

Why do flames shoot out of exhaust? Is it done on purpose, or just something that occurs on different exhaust systems?

backfire and running really rich causes the fuel to ignite in the exhaust...ur cat is f'd up or ur running with a midpipe
