pull the uim
remove the acv and solenoid attached to it
i had to release the solenoid rack bolts(including the coils) to slide it a bit
take out the 2 12 mm bolts on the primary ( dont lose the black insulator/spacer
get new grommets that go around the primary housing and seal it to the engine from ray at malloy
might as well get a new FPD while you are in there

Yup, I had the same issue. Removing that thing sucks. I had to beg another local forum member to come over and help me out. Before that was ready to hav emy car towed to a local FD shop to complete the job. I had given up.

You need to remove the ACV unit first. That alone can be a bear. There are some nuts underneath the ACV that you just can see. They must be removed by feel. I/we used a 1/4" drive socket and an extension. I beleive it's a 10mm nut, like almost everything else on the FD.

Once you have the ACV off, I think the Primary Fuel Rail has to somewhat twist it's way out between all the other ****. You'll be thinking, "there is no ******* way this thing is coming out". But it does. Having the right tools goes a long way, like long needle nose pliers for those sticky hoses.

You might try to find some local FD guy s who have dealt with their injectors to walk you through this...and to provide moral support.

Good luck dude.

Congrats.

Somedays, I feel like kicking some of the FD designers in the nuts! It seems like they didn't even try to make things accessible.
