Primary Boost Question
Primary Boost Question
Hey everybody,
I got my car back from the dealership last week, and unsuprisingly I think something is f'ed up. It's mainly the primary turbo (I suspect, haven't revved high enough to get to the second). It just seems like sometimes it's working 100% and great, then other times it seems to be working about 50% or not at all. Or it will work great in 1st, but lag off in second and third. Or it also might not work at first, then suddenly kick in (not like the normal spooling process). I'm going to take it to Banzai later this month (when I have time) to check it out, but do any of you have any clue as to what, if anything, might be malfunctioning? I don't have a boost gauge right now (saving up for full 5-gauge install), so I can't tell you any pressure numbers - sorry. Can anyone guess as to what might be wrong? Something that I could have Banzai focus on when I take it to them? Thanks a lot, guys

Without a boost gauge, it's going to be nearly impossible to troubleshoot.
Just buy a boost gauge. You don't have to mount it, just run it into the car and lay it in your lap, in the seat next to you, hell even duct tape it somewhere.

Stupid question, maybe - if I were to get a boost gauge (or when I get one) how would I go about hooking it up? Do I just have to tap into a vacuum line? How do you get that inside the cabin?

Using one for just troubleshooting purposes, just run the line from under the hood, ouside the car and through the open window.

does your exhaust ever seem to be louder than usual to the point of almost sounding like an exhaust leak??
At any rate... this is an easily checked Item... Ask the Banzai boys to pull your heat shields from the lower half of the turbos... and inspect this connection.
Good luck
Rich
That might be it - the rattling noise could be explained like this. It does sound more like a really loud exhaust noise than a metal on metal rattle. Almost like a modded sport bike (and it didn't sound like that before) Thanks again, and I'll tell them that
