price/condition

newbie here wondering if you guys can give some input. below is a listing for a 93 in San Francisco, California. The guy is asking for 12,750. Seems kinda low, since when I search on ebay or autotrader seems like all rx-7s are going for like 15k+, unless it's stated that it's totally bad, then it's like 8k. so how does the 13k price reflect the condition? i've read through enough post to realize rx-7s are money pitt, but i want to make sure the pitt is as small as possible. thanks a lot for the input.

The ad:

1993 Mazda Rx-7 twin-turbo coupe (3rd generation w/ newest body style)

-Crazy Fast

-Tan Leather/Blue-Green exterior, manual 5-speed, electric oversized sunroof, cruise control, ABS, traction control, 98k on car, only *30k* on the 2nd engine (when I posted this originally I did so from memory, I now have the recipt in front of me and this is the correct mileage on the engine. Sorry)

-Recent turbo and fuel injector jobs, New Pirelli P7000 SuperSport Ultra High Performance All-Season WR tires. Car is stock . Maintained since its initial purchase off the lot at PR-Motorsports (RX-7 Specialists).

-2 owners within one family so the history is easily recounted.

-Smogged and registered in mid-April, 2002.

$12,750

Re: price/condition

a couple of things worry me:

traction control

RX-7s have never came with traction control

-Recent turbo and fuel injector jobs

I would definitely want to know the exact details of these repairs

Also, the fact that it is ALL stock at 98k scares me as the pre-cat and main-cat are probably clogged pretty good by now. In fact, looks like the first engine failed at about 68k which is prime clogged pre-cat mileage.

Just beware that replacing the pre-cat and main cat will cost over $2500 unless you get a downpipe and new hi-flow cat. These items may require additional boost control or ecu upgrades to be safe. You will also have to upgrade to an aluminum AST immediately. The radiator is likely on it's last legs. Also, something else could be wrong like bad air pump, water pump, or oil metering pump. Who knows.

Get the car checked out by Ivan in Sunnyvale or Rick at Rick's Rotary in Pleasanton.

EDIT: Also, find out who rebuilt and replaced the engine. This is very important.
