Pressure in gas tank?

So the other day when I went to put gas in the FD, I unscrewed the gas cap and it made sounds as if it was depressurizing, similar to when u open up a gas can for the mower. My question is, is that normal? It was about 90 degrees out which would obv make the gas expand but in my experience there are vent tubes on gas tanks that would prevent this, could mine be clogged? Thanks for any help!

Very common in hot weather and an empty tank. It is normal.

Ok that’s also good to know lol I started it up the other day and it randomly shut off between shifts, and I thought it may be due to that buuuut that’s the only time it ever happened and it doesn’t sound like it’s from that so who knows 🤷🏻*♂️

When that happens and the person at the next pump over-hears it, it’s best to excuse yourself while shaking your leg and pulling out on the seat of your pants.
