pressure drop or boost leak

Guys today I put my boost gauge on the y pipe nipple just to see what the turbos were producing to check for leaks and stuff.

I'm running non sequential with full exhaust intake and pettit ecu and fuel pump

What I saw was 13.5-almost 14psi by redline of creep when it was on the ypipe but when it's on the uim I get 9 initially and it creeps to 11 and maybe 11.5 at most. Is this just the pressure drop that I'm getting through the stock intercooler or do I have a leak somewhere?
There aren't a lot of places where I could have a leak and I thought everything was secured down well. A bolt on my uim near the passenger firewall doesnt want to tighten very well but I don't think that's it.

thanks for any facts or suggestions

so is there really a ~2psi pressure drop with the stock IC or do I have a leak somewhere?

It doesn't make sense that the there would be such a drop because then the turbos would be making 12psi just for the engine to recieve 10.

thanks for all the help I enjoy typing to myself

Snook, what you are measuring IS indeed the pressure drop of the stock IC. You just found out for yourself one of the reasons the stock IC sucks *** and we all change it for something better.

Hell, my PFS certainly isn't state-of-the-art but I still gained 1.5 psi or so over the stock IC.

that's incredible, what strain on the turbos
an upgraded IC should be considered a reliability mod if you can control boost with it.

Yep, now you know why some of the veterans have preached that the stock IC is inadequate for even stock boost levels.

I couldn't believe how much of a difference the old design PFS made over the stock unit. Upgrading the IC probably adds several thousands of miles of life to the turbos for the same boost level.
