power fc install
I jsut installed my power fc that i had ordered from rx7store and had jsaon tune. when i went for the first test drive everything was fine. then i stopped for a minute but did not turn the car off. then i went for another ride and when i got on the throttle a little bit it started bumping and backfiring really bad. this did happen to me with my stock computer a month or so ago. to fix that i reset the ecu. could i reset the power fc and not have it reset all the settings and tuning that jason did or what. does anyone know how to fix the problem? thanks

Wishin I Still Had The FD
If you re-initialize the PFC, you'll restore it back to the base map and tune, and lose any tuning done. If it did it with the stock ECU, it's probably not being caused by the ECU. I'd look for problems elsewhere.

its behind the throttle body. www.fd3s.net has all the info on that subject.
on a side note...what kind of exhaust/cat are you running? what are your other mods?
my car backfired when it was bone stock with a dp only. i like it though. hehe

so as some of you know i installed a power fc yesterday and had some problems. so today i went to drive it again and had the same problems. so i decided to put the stock ecu back in and see what happens. so... when i turned the key the car started and idled much better. so i took it for a drive and it drove much better. no more hesitation and bucking. does the power fc just need to get used to my car like some say or is something else wrong. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Like they said above: the PFC takes a few days to learn your car. There are special initial start-up instructions many people go by that allow your PFC to learn your car before you go out driving. My PFC took a couple of days before it worked perfect. But, right away I noticed a difference in how the car ran/performed as compared to the stock ECU. Check the Engine Management forum. That's where I found all the info I needed when I installed my PFC. There was a little more to it than I initially expected. Be sure to read through that forum. You might be surprised what you find.
PS: I like your exhaust set-up =) Similar to mine

(1) This SHOULD have been posted in the PFC forum, not here.
(2) The PFC only learns the three idle speeds and can do it in about 30 minutes if you go through them one at at time for 10 minutes each. NEVER takes three days.
It can have problems of not being able to learn them if the throttle body TAS and AAS screws need adjusting. This can be caused by having too little or too much air flow through the butterflies which can cause the PFC to try ot OVER CONTROL the ISC solenoid.
(3) Excess fuel exploding in the exhaust is caused by either of the three fuel cutoff speeds being set too high, or most likely the cruise area of the fuel map is just too friggin rich as it is on most maps for the PFC. When you lean out your cruise AFRs to 16AFR, not only does the exhaust explosions stop, the plugs and complete exhaust system will not have carbon buildup.
