Power FC Commander custom bracket, for FREE!
It finally stopped raining up here in Mass, so I fab'd a bracket for the commander. I took a standard 12V car adapter and a piece of plastic off of an old video tape (similar to the way I repaired my passenger hand grip) and soldered (just melted the plastic, not really soldering, but I used a soldering iron) the two together. The result looks something like this.
And here is the bracket in the car, with the velcro attached to it.
Here is my view of the commander
And my passengers view
To anyone looking to do this, it took about an hour from start to finish, and was really easy. The only semi-difficult part was getting the correct angle on the mount. Here is a decent pic showing my final angle

Hmmm, That's a good idea. If you use a dremel cut-off wheel and some epoxy it would look cleaner. But who cares, it looks fine when the commander is mounted.
I just might have to do that. Thanks for the idea.
Here's an idea for you: It looks like you already hard wired your Radar Detector. Or at least you had to find another power source.
You should tap the dome light to power your RD and mount it higher on the windshield, just under and behind the rear view mirror. That would look cleaner, no wires in view except 3" up to the dome light. I'll get pics once I get my car back form the shop.

I haven't hard wired the detector yet, but thats next. It just started raining again, so I'll get to it this afternoon. Got a question for you though. If I tap the dome light to installed the RD, won't it only be on when the dome light is on? I suck at electronic stuff, so I may be way off, but it seems to me that'd be the case. I guess I could head out with my multimeter and check it out.

Nope, there is a wire up there that is hot when the ignition is on. I forget which one. You just have to test em out.

you know for like $2.50 you can get a cell phone holder (the one that clips on to the visor). You epoxy the two arms so it fits in between the cig lighter socket tightly and your done.

Under the drivers side dash you will see a fuse box (near the clutch thingy) Anyway, above that you will see what looks like two plugs, one on the left and one on the right. The one on the right is an ignition plug. You get a metal electrical connector and attach to your wire, plug into the one one the right and hook up to your device.

Right, but mine was FREE! Not $2.50, free. j/k, I like the satisfaction of doing things myself. It works, just fine, looks good, and didn't take lots of money or time.
Just as a follow up jpandes, above the dome light/map lights, there are two harnesses that go up into the roof panel. One goes left, the other goes right. In the right harness, the "hot" wire with the ignition on is blue with a red stripe.

Well if you don't have any super glue lying around, and you happen to have a soldering iron...
Maybe my way was "too much" work. But it was really easy anyway. Plus it was fun. What better things did I have to do today? Nothing, so this was my project of the day, and it was worth it.

lol, I've thought of doing that with the flashers, cus the button looks like an engine start button already. Just scrape off the white paint thats on there, and stencil paint on the words "engine start." Might be a fun little project someday...

Ed just showed up at my house last weekend to pick up my R1 bar and he had his done almost exactly the same. Only difference is that he had just glued the commander to the stock lighter, I think I'll go this way.
