Too many variables to make an accurate comparison.

While cruising both the SMIC and FMIC will have similar air intake temperatures on the freeway. The difference is that the FMIC can better sustain the cooler air temperatures. I have a large SMIC and have a friend with an HKS FMIC. When we cruise side by side, our intake temperatures are very similar, however after we do a hard blast to redline from third to fourth gear, his intake temperatures increase by a small amount, while mine increase noticeably. This makes intuitive sense because the velocity of air that goes to the FMIC increases while you go faster while the ducting for a SMIC chokes out the air stream.

Texas summer evening with stock intercooler I see 45/60 cruising/traffic and if I get on it, I've seen 85 degrees Celcius by the middle of 4th.
