Invest $15k in the market and in 20 years, it'll be worth $100k
^This. Sure you may have some broker fees that will chip into your profits, but that's nothing compared to what you would end up paying to store and properly maintain a collectible car over 20 years.
^ Yup, all about timing and what you bought, nothing is guarantee. That's why folks have several line of investment, not just stock market. Some investment will do better than the other, but who cares if we come out positive on the other end?

Color: Brilliant Black Engine/Miles: 68k miles, just had a Mazda reman installed
Reman blew up about 20,000 miles later due to my dumb *** . I rebuilt the engine better, been going strong ever since. Car has about 137,000 on it now and damn near all the mods.
Bought mine through the forum back in late 2017 I believe it was. I was hoping to find the original 'for sale' posting but it looks like the old classified section is finally gone, guess they couldn't keep it around forever.
Purchased: Late 2017 Price: $17,000 ~ $19,000 (can't quite remember) Year: 1993 Model: Base Color: Brilliant Black Engine/Miles: 80 some thousand mile Atkins 3mm engine and around 120k on the chassis
Was Jacob Cartmill's project, he documented it nicely so I chanced buying it (which is why I think keeping a build thread can help a sale by quite a bit, takes a lot of the mystery out of buying). Chassis had seen a few owners over the years; as Aplscrambles said later "Car was sold to a doctor or lawyer or something in Charlotte, sold to a young guy in Birmingham, I bought it, then sold it to LS Swap here on the forum in Charleston, SC, he immediately sold it to I think Tomsn16, who soon, sold it to Cartmill". It was a great running and driving car with '99 twins tuned by Chris Ludwig and pulled like a champ 'till the oil pump let go two years later. I dropped in a new engine, single turbo, and now it's even more of a blast to drive. This car has taken a lot of my money (so far and will continue to do so), but the return-on-fun investment is so high, I think it's some of the best I've spent.
Purchased: August 2015 Price: 12,500 Year: 1993 Model: not sure. Non bose, no sunroof, 1 oil cooler i think Color: VR Engine/Miles: unknown engine situation and chassis miles were low 120k
My other one
Purchased: 2012 or 2013 Price: 1500 Year: 1992 Model: type x Color: montego blue Engine/Miles: both unknown. I didn't have it very long before I let it run out of oil and the motor.......... gave up.
I've had quite a few other but they were all in Japan. Different market. Those are just the 2 I still have.
Purchased: November 2018 Price: 24,000 USD Year: 1995 Model: PEP (Touring) Color: Montego Blue Engine/Miles: 101k Chassis, 5X,000 on the motor, 3 previous owners
Came with '99spec turbos, turbo timer (unplugged now), water injection, greddy SMIC, PowerFC, Aluminum AST and all the spare stock parts taken off of it
I definitely overpaid for mine, but I was a bit star-struck having rarely seen an FD in person before this.
Despite the good PPI, I did everything they tell you not to do when looking at used cars - I saw it and instantly got attached to it, overlooked some small niggles here and there, and didn't use a lot of factors to lower the price.
It's only by luck that all 3 PO's took such good care of the car that it's been so dead on reliable. I rely heavily on the forums to do my part as the current owner.
I think this thread is just trolling people who now want to buy an FD when they are $30,000
Dale
Def a troll thread for newer FD owners 😭… 😂

I may have one of the highest prices on her but I have my dream car… Wanted an FD since I was kid growing up playing Gran Turismo. So obviously I have adult money now and can buy said dream car 😂 car bought through RHD Specialties too so that may reflect the price a bit. (Another overpriced jdm importer)

That was in the back of my mind when I bought mine in 2010 for $17K with 24K miles. "Just have to wait for those 'Fast and Furious' fans to grow up." LOL
Loved the car when it came out, love it now. And now that the prices are high... I'm keeping it! Some greed involved as well, I guess.
Purchased: Dec 1999

She currently has 68000. It's been sitting in my garage untouched for 5 years in need of a lot of TLC. Watching all of Rob's stuff on Youtube has made me want to resurrect her. So that project will start soonish, God willing.
Purchased 1999
Price: $17k USD (in 1999).
Year: 1993
Color: Montego Blue Touring
Mileage: 6k miles. Now sitting at around 60k miles.
It was a weekend toy for a collector that had about a dozen cars and traded the RX-7 in for an Infiniti SUV for his 16 yr old kid.
Like the above poster @RX-8 it sat for 6 years in a friend's garage. I brought it home this summer, bought a lift to store it. And am slowly getting it going. Runs fine, and puts a smile on my face every time I take it out. Still a project car though.
