possibly purchasing an rx7..... need some help:)

i am looking at an rx7 locally that has about 60,000 miles or so....

what do i need to look for? what problems do these cars typically have?

i have a 2001 transam that i use for my car that i mod, i just want something for a daily driver that will look nice and ride comfortably, handle well.....

i was first looking into a supra, but they are much more expensive... how reliable are rx7's? its my understanding that this car will need a new engine soon...... so what all does the detail into, and how much does it run?

please help me out....... thanks

Do a search for a topic like this ... this same scenario about anew buyer asking about reliability gets asked all of the time and people get really tired of repeating themselves. I will address a couple questions, though.

$10K is not a reasonable price for an FD with 60,000 miles that will run in a month. You're looking more at $13-15K.

New motor, install, etc. runs right at $5,000.

And between a Trans Am and an FD, the Trans Am should be considered the reliable daily driver that can handle being bounced through stoplights and turned off an on over and over as you run errands. Rotaries and turbos don't like that.

Wait ... are you saying that they want $10K for that car? That's a good price, then. I thought you were asking in a budget sense "Can I get one like this for $10K?". Get a compression check on that car and get it if it checks out!

Just look around or search for threads "buying FD" ... "unreliable" ... etc. It comes up all the time. If you just pan through a few pages you should find a couple.
