Possible problem with Fluidyne raidator? Help!
Hi All,
Ok. Stupid question time. How do I open the drain plug for a Fluidyne radiator?
The drain plug on mine doesn't seem to want to come out. Now unless I'm mistaken, the brass screw in the picture below is the drain plug. And the aluminum tap is supposed to be firmly attached to the brass screw (for lack of a better name for it) so that you can twist it.
(I can't imagine that the nut itself is the drain plug. It's sealed with silicon caulking, so I'm assuming that it's not the actual drain)
On mine, the little aluminum tap has a little bit of play (I can rotate it a couple of degrees), but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the screw. In fact, it doesn't even seem to be attached to the screw at all. Am I doing something wrong here? The screw is supposed to come out, right?
My Fluidyne is sitting in the '7, half-installed, let me know if it's safe to proceed, or if I have to exchange this one...
Thanks in advance.
Felix

The fluidine drain is reverse threaded. If you turn it counter clockwise it will drain out of the center of the brass screw. Don't turn the outer nut that's threaded into the radiator. You may have to use pliers to get it started but as you turn the screw counter clockwise it will go into the radiator not out.
