Possible ignition problem?

Hey there, got an interesting problem that i cant find any info on.
About a month ago i went for a short drive in my fd. Everything was going fine until about 15mins in the car gave a quick splutter. I didnt think anything of it, but then 5 mins later it started doing it again but really bad. I turned it off and tried starting it up but just backfired lots and wouldnt hold a steady idle.

Its been parked up for around 4 weeks and yesterday we tried starting it. It was idling mint and the apexi wasn't showing anything suspicious. But then when the water temp was at around 20 degrees it just shut off. Just like that. And when we tried starting it back up it would just backfire and wouldnt idle.

The plugs are fine and pretty sure the leads are ok. Haven't messed with the tps or anything like that either. Possible ignition module failure? Or possibly fuel related? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
