Whatever you do, get off the computer and start making phone calls.. I personally would have called the cops while sitting in the lot picking up the car.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Redline, I hope you get your car straightened out and that the stereo shop is held liable. Good luck.
Werd,
Never leave a car at stereo shop. If was needed to drop it off, at least stay with it.

I had a 94 supra TT, 1 week in the shop for paint, when I got the car back the 2nd turbo was blown, didnt relize for couple days because i didnt drive it and when I took it home i did a slow 40...there was nothing I could do. Also the paint shop broke or lost all of my emblems. The Supra peice, toyota, and Twin Turbo peice ALL broke or missing. The back windshield wiper was broke and several new noises had poped up. Before I sold the car I had a 4 wheel alignment..and when I came to pick the car up it was on the other side of the road in full boost...boy i was pissed..all the guy said is that he had to make sure it was aligned correctly.. Now that I have my FD my bro is the only that touches it. For future refereces, take the manager out for walk around of the car condition, show everything that works, start the car for him DOCUMENT.all info, pics of car and odometer, as well as voice recording of conversation of agreement. This might sound crazy....but if something happens you will have everything to take them down IMMEDIATLY. Also this will lessen the chances of them joyriding or whatever the case, THEY know your are serious.

For future reference, if you show up to pick up your car and there's obviously something wrong with it that wasn't that way when you dropped it off, DON'T ******* TAKE POSSESSION OF IT.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems, but you handled the situation badly and you're probably going to pay as a result. If you'd left the car at the shop, and gotten witnesses and a camera to document the issues with it, you would have been MUCH better off. Lesson learned. Good luck trying to prove that the damage was caused by them while the car was in their possession, because that's the situation you're in now, unfortunately.

wow. that is really fucked up. which shop? let us know so none of us get screwed going there.

talk to the better business bureau. get a compression check. it almost sounds like the car got flooded somehow, lost compression and they dumped ATF into it (gray smoke). I just experienced that on Saturday with r1dreamer's car. Judging by the fact that the boost controller no longer works, it sounds like they fucked up the wiring on that and owe you to have it redone. Why they would need to **** with the wiring of a boost controller god only knows. Sounds like negligence to me.

also call small claims court and see what the process is. they can probably give you info on what bases to cover since I'm sure they have seen this type of case before.

sucks...

I agree you did handle the situation a little bit foolishly, but it happens to the best of us. That sucks man, sounds like those punk kids wanted to joy ride it or something, but ended up 4X4 it. Where was the shop in the ghetto? I am suprised anyone would be soo unproffessional. Don't tell me they charged you still? Well anyways good luck and so the f'n snot out of them, and next time if you got the time just be there while they work on it, I don't trust a damn soul breathing near any of my vehicles.

don't be surprised actually. non-professional is the norm, not the exception.

i probably would have done the same if i had never gotten screwed before. i would have pulled the car out in a bit of a state of shock and surprise and then been like wtf just happened...

you just don't know till it happens to you...

$hit this doesn't like a small claims court issue to me bro, I got screwed one time really big and couldn't do anything about it cuz I didn't have enough proof. Make sure you have a record of some sort indicating when the car was brought in the shop and when it was taken out. Also it would be nice if you had some proof of the condition on the car before bringing the car in. A faulty mechanic messed up my break lines and he smashed my car test driving it then upon saying he will fix the outer damages he over boosting the engine some how and blew it. I got totally screwed big time so dont let that happen to you.

Well the good news here Redline, is that things can always be fixed.

Your car is still in one piece, so it can be restored.

If the damages don't amount to $2000 , it's not worth it to take them to court, the legal fees will be more than it's worth.

My dad used to do construction, and every now and then jerks would just refuse to pay on some small jobs, because they knew it wasn't worth it to for him to sue them. If you don't have some big-time documentation, or some lawyer friends who are telling you that you've got a good case, I think you might be out of luck in the legal department.

I would do my best to smear their reputation, make them pay for their mistake in the long run.

Hire an arsonist to burn their houses down... j/k well...not really.

I just recently had my car repainted by a reputable body shop after I recently(6mos) dropped $8,500 into a rebuilt motor etc. I felt better about leaving my car there after I set my rev. limiter on my PFC to 3000 rpms. That way, they wouldn't be able to joy ride my car my car & **** up my new motor. Fuel cut would probably scare the **** out of anyone and make them think that they just blew my motor... They would have to really know how to fiddle with the PFC commander to raise the rev limit.

Good advice for anyone that rolls the diice and leaves their car to be worked on(or over)

John gives good advice. I trusted the body shop that worked on my car, but I still lowered the rev limiter on the PFC to 3500rpm and turned my boost controller off (7 psi max).

Bottom line though, with a car like this, you pretty much can't leave it anywhere without supervision, unless it's at a trustworthy mechanic. Most car stereo stores employ a bunch of teenagers or young twenty-somethings that can't do better in life than making $8.50/hour working at the stereo shop.

i would burn there houses down and kill their families...

i would never let people who dont know anything about the car work on it. i must say its partly your fault for leaving your car with fools. but definitely sue them.

Anyway, did you pick up your BOSE gear, and did you confront the owner or manager about the damage to your car? Any updates?

haha.. that was funny.. I think you thought it was me.. he stole my avitar.. well, I store it from some guy in Europe or australia.. So, its cool..

Far as your car.. it sounds like they went for a joy ride.. and pushed it pretty hard and possibly blew the turbos.. blown turbos will make ton of smoke. If you blew your engine.. you will definitely know.. you wouldn;'t be able to idle or have power..
