A positive Mazda Dealer Experience

Instead of the usual dealer bashing, I'd like to complement the service at Congressional Mazda in Rockville, MD. Two problem left unresoved but worked on by rotary shops included a sluggish driver's window and a non-funtional alarm system. Congressional simply replaced a switch module ($143.00) to fix the alarm, and changed out weather stripping to fix the window.
Not to mention, additional work on the rear suspension replacing pillow bushings and the link attached to the two rear pillow bushings.

I spoke to the tech working on my car and he said he lives for the opportunity to work on cars like the FD.

Bottom line with any service, know the shop and their limitations. Also, they were more than willing to deal with my extended warranty which was not the case with a rotary shop.

caveat emptor

How did they fix your sluggish window? I have the same problem.

That's an experience I wouldn't mind having with a dealer! BTW My passenger side window is very sluggish as well, probably needs a turbo motor to boost the speed up!

Mike, FYI, Ray @ PFS takes extended warranties. I just had my car serviced there, under an extended warranty, and Ray was very helpful in doing so (diagnosing, calling for approval, giving a written estimate, getting an authorization confirmation #, etc). And he's pretty much the best in our area too!

Re: sluggish windows, I have an FB and and an FD, and the windows are sluggish on both (or were...). On the FB, I took off the door panel, took out the glass, took out the regulator, dipped it in gasoline and took a brush to it, to break up all the old grease on there. Let it airdry for a bit, then put some good old Lithium Grease on it, and presto...the windows are rolling up and down w/ ease. Basically, the old grease gets hard, and no longer lubricates worth crap, so the motor has a hard time pulling and pushing the windows. That's really all it is. Yes, a bad weatherstripping can do it too, but from what I've come across, that's rarely the situation (plus you should be able to easily confirm or eliminate if it's the weatherstripping... spray some silicone lubricant into the weatherstripping...if the prob disappears permanently, that was your prob. If not, it's you regulator, lacking lubcricant...)

The thing here is, AFAIK, the motors rarely go bad. They only go bad when the regulator sticks up, and you start forcing the window over and over...damaging the motor. On the FD, I've sprayed the inner linings of the weather stripping. It helped the prob for about 30 seconds lol. Then back to square one. I'm prob gonna do the same (take off the panel, take out the glass, remove the regulator, clean it, and regrease it) and prob should be fixed. The only prob is, I HATE messing w/ the FD door panels. Things crack, break, won't go back on right, etc. The FB on the other hand, is all nice and easy w/ screws

This could be it. I'll be looking into worn weatherstrips and whether its the due to a lack of lubrication. I'm guessing its lubrication. The window starts rolling strong, then between 1/4-3/4 of the way up, its slooowwww. Then it shoots the rest of the way up.

Thanks for the info guys
