Porting guru advices needed!!

I was working on the intake port, when removing the carbide, i accidentally slipped and grinded 1mm off the oil seal side of the port. Pictures will be provided. Is this okay or I need a new side plates?

From the pics, the only place I see a potential problem is on the inside bottom, but its hard to see the oil control ring track with all the porting dust on the iron. How far in did you go? I also don't like to port with the template on the iron. next time you use it, it will already be off as you are hitting it with the bit. Trace the shape, and tape the iron up to protect it.

I did port with the templates off with duct tape over it. I just had it there to show how far deep I digged in. Sorry for the confusion.

As you can see, the picture with the "black" paint on it, showed the oil control ring track and at the left side or the "bottom" side is where I messed up. I was worried that this can cause a oil leak which I would not work. If you think it is okay according to the pictures, then I shall be MUCH more careful with the rest of the porting.

If not, I will just buy another set of side plates and practice on these. Let me know. Thanks in advance.

You could install the stationary gear, put grease on the iron, and spin a rotor on it to see exactly where it travels.

you will get a small amount of oil on your lead plug.

the motor will make power but it will be difficult/impossible to read your plug color. (so read it off the other rotor)

i see alot of backyard port jobs where the porter has ground away the oil ring support ledge to promote flow.

it does promote flow. the flow of oil into the combustion chamber.

you are fine unless you want a 100% motor.

It is fine, a very very very small amount of oil could possibly get in, but I will almost guarantee you will see no ill effects from that.
