I know someone was selling a plug for the hatch wiper hole before, but can't find the thread. Does anyone know where I can find a plug for the hole where the wiper sits? I really don't feel like hunting around for this little part.

dont want to weld? home depot sells caps that fit in perfect... if you want me to search i pretty much know i can find it but im lazy..

 

I'd rather not re-paint...a cap is much easier.

 

home depot has something called a nylon locking hole plug. find one the right size and it should work

 

Don't know if the 7 has the same size as the Z but this thread has the part # and website.

I did it but I used 4 different peices.

Drain plug/grommit
---Hatch----
--Gasket--
--Washer--
----Nut---

I painted the bolt head black to match the grommit. Overall looks great and you cant just pop it out and NO LEAKS.

 

I remember seeing the thread you are talking about Dan. I seem to recall somthing about using boat drainage plugs? Maybe try a marine supply store?

 

Go to Home depot where they keep all the crews/washers, gromets, fitings, etc. They've got plastic snap-in plugs that are virtually flush. The 1" size works with some light fitting. They're available in black and white.

I put a tiny bead of shoe-goo or fish tank sealer for water proofing, but really unless your car is submerged, there isn't likely to be much standing water in that area.
