pls wish me good luck.

notice my car had a coolent leaking problem a few days ago, but wasnt really major, didnt have time to take it to the workshop until today, b4 i went out of the garage i top up the coolent level, it only leaks when the engine is running, later on today i found out it is the waterpump that is causing the leaking....

i kept an eye on the temperature all the time as i know the coolent is leaking slowly.
just about the last traffic light to the workshop i notice the temperature start rising and climbing to the top, i m so worried but i managed to remember reading one of the threads in this forum "never ever try to make it to the nearest service station if temperature is high", so i stopped the car immediately and call my friend to buy some more coolent for me....

the bit that worries me is....
while i was waiting patient for my friend, i was sitting in the car watching all this different cars pass by for a while..until a pretty old van came pass and i hear a pretty loud "POP" noise, i was thinking....is that from my car? or from that bloody van? i wasnt paying attention and i couldnt really tell...

after that my friend brought me the coolent and we added and drove a very short distance to the workshop, now my car is stting in the workshop waiting for the waterpump to be delieved and fitted.

i cant kept myself from worrying...i know there is no tests or nothing can be done before the waterpump is fitted first, but i dont really have much friends having rotary cars so i can really share my "fear" with any friends....

my question is:
i had never popped an engine b4, and i dont want to try this yet...
will an engine blown even when it is switch off? i hope it is from that old van.

guys if u can give me some advices, give me some.
or if not and after reading this stupid message, pls wish me good luck.

it doesn't make sense for the engine to make a pop noise when its been shut down. There is no combustion taking place. The only thing I could possibly imagine is something that is only cooled when the engine is running, not getting cooled because the engine was off. Its definately not your engine but I'm not completely familiar with FD's so I can't say it must be the Van either. Good luck.

If your engine was off... it wasn't your car.
Good luck anyway.

thx guys!
i m feeling a bit better now.
i just bought the FD 2 weeks ago and just had the service done, i do expect Rx7 do have their problems (i had a FC b4) but i really dont want that to happen this ... quick.

the previous must have stickie tapped the waterpump to stop the leaking b4 (hehe) selling the FD to me i guessed.

"my car is ok
my car is ok
my car is ok"
this is my Christmas wishes......

forgot to thx u guys for the "goo luck", but obviously that doesnt stop the nightmare to happen, my engine need a rebuilt for the water seals is found to be busted, the previously overheated numerous times and it was my mistake to check this out wheni bought the car, the mechanic told me that the previous owner must have been putting some sort of fluid to seal the crack temperorily, but then he said if that the case that would be very hard for me to find out at that time anyway, i was too excited wheni looked at it and too concentrated on wheather the car had been crashed b4, well the good thing (the only good thing) is the car wasnt involved in any serious accidents b4, that at least make me feel a little bit better.
now the engine is being rebuilt and i m waiting for this "new" car again...

so when any of u planning to get a new FD, make sure u check this out as well and dont follow my sad footpath, check the coolent to see if the color is normal, mine was orange color full of rust when i check it before the rebuilt.

If the owner used a sealer - then you need to get a new radiator in the car before you use the new engine.
