please help-tachometer acting up
my tach has been going really haywire lately, actually you could say that its been acting independently. sometimes it likes to stick at 0 , sometimes it likes to stick at 9k rpms, other times it just bounces around freely. i havent seen it read the actual RPMs for a while so i'm wondering if this is an electrical problem that can be fixed or would i need to get a whole new cluster?
thanks in advance

i dont think that the needle is sticking. it likes to bounce around a lot
the gauge can just die out? is there any chance its electrical? if the gauge did die out do i need to buy just the tach?

The crazy tach is a common electrical problem. There are (cold) solder joints on the tach PCB that like to break. You'll have to re-solder them.
I haven't done fix myself, but I think someone did a write up on how to tear down the gauge setup. Try searching for "tach solder joints" or something similar.

I tried the resoldering thing, didn't work. Just save yourself the time and money, and find someone parting out a car and buy the tach. It's real easy to replace, PM me if you need help.
