A pillar pod mounting...
Just wondering if there is anyone else who has not wanted to drill holes into the a pillar to mount the autometer dual gauge pod and have come up with an alternative? I was thinking of some 2 sided tape or something but.... Any ideas? .......
Yeah, get one of Frank's (flyrx7) center-speaker tri-pod gauge holders. Works great and no permanent damage to the interior.

I guess that isn't too bad ... makes me feel icky thinking about doing it.... No way in hell I would stick my gauges on the dash.... looks like chit... a pillar is somewhat hidden when looking in the car.

Autometer has a full a-pillar replacement for the fd. Part # 22674 for the 2 pod and #22675 for the 3 pod. They have to be modified to fit 60 mm gauges if that is what you have, but it isn't hard to do. I haven't installed mine yet, but there is a picture that I posted in one of the forums. Just search under volley1.
I fabed mine from a 94 integra gauge pod and you could hardly tell it not meant for the FD...I have my Defis mounted in it...I drilled holes in the stock pilar though. No biggie

hey apen and ryn. Are the Defi Gauges the best match for the interior lighting. I was looking at the Omori gauges as they are multicolor and can be adjusted to match the amber lighting.
also ryn - the center channel gauges are total sex. I keep getting tempted by them. However, is that a tape deck! That has to go! The Alpine 7894 has a slick amber mode which matches really well. Looks very nice at night.

Actually, the pic I posted is from Frank's website and is not my car. But, yes, I still have just the stock tape deck....
I don't listen to the tunes much anyway, I just roll down the window and listen to that unique rotary sound. I was actually looking at the Alpine 7894 (thanks for the tip though) myself. That will come after a few other mods.

In english and in multicolor! Is there a better match to be found? Not sure of the price probably a bit on the expensive side though.

Plus it is an amber lighted unit.

PS; Tyler, I may just have to hire you on as my PR guy
I was going to use double sided tape, when I realized that I had to drill a hole in the A-Pillar for the vacuum hose and electrical connections anyways.
Once I drilled one hole, I thought I might as well drill 4 more. I thought it all mounted up pretty good, except I would like to use real screws instead of those cheap plastic ones that come with the gauge pod.

Actually, from the people who have seen the gauges and pod over the last 2 months, you should be getting a few more orders from the Bay Area....
Hey frank, While I'm here I just though I'd say thanks for producing such a sexy, innovative product! It's people like you that make owning an FD so much fun.
I'll snag one for sure at some point, I've just got to get more gauges to stick in that thing first!

Actually, I think you have that backwards; "To have such a sexy, innovative car that makes making parts for it so much fun".

Sorry Rynberg, I didn't mean to sound like a dick. your right, we all have our opinion on what looks good. Your Defi gauges look awesome by the way... wish they weren't so much money... doesn't seem feesable to spend that much on a gauge other wise I would own some of that!

Oops, double post.
BTW, ROTORHP, sorry for hijacking your thread, there was some interest so I thought I'd post some pics, since Railgun69 mentioned the backlight of the D-gauge.
You can carry on with the A-pillar thread now
Frank
