Thanks badass7. I needed that reassurance so I don't feel like I'm wasting more money on installing another reman.

hey so how much did the wing cost you? that's the only spoiler that i like on RX-7s (that's why i took the wing off of mine, it came with the car). As for your smoking.. i have the same problem, but mine smells like super concentrated gas and lasts only for about 2 minutes. but nice car!

I got this from the group buy on the forum. I think its somewhere around $300-$350 for the wing. It came with Carbon Fiber center deck. If it was all glass fiber, then its $100 less. After I get my motor in, it'll be perfect!

Nice choice of aesthetics! I have an MBM too, so it's nice to see how it'll look JDM'd out :P

The stock rims in alloy look nicer IMO on MBM. They start looking "White" if you really have them clean, and it contrasts the MBM Nicely.

I can NOT fathom how anyone can give any sort of advice seeing ONE damn photo of your car with some "smoke" coming out of the rear. My car does that same exact smoke IMMEDIATELY after startup. I run over to it several times and it smells like gasoline, and touches my face as condensation (Moisture).

The only advice anyone should be giving obviously is the tip of smell, and for how long. But have you thought of the concept that...if your coolant seals are bad or are going...you'll...LOSE COOLANT as you go along? Why not check your levels through 2 weeks of driving and see if it drops? That would be the most common sensical way of figuring it out...besides the smoke time and sweet smell.

do what jxy said, when it threw up the coolant in the reservoir it might just mean that your system wasn't burped after fluids were changed. If it only smokes for 2-5 minutes after startup it's normal.

I hate how everybody on here immediately says that you need a rebuild for every problem that arises. I had a quarter of the forum tell me I needed a new motor when all I needed was a new radiator cap once! Half the people giving advice on here don't even own an rx7, they just repeat what others have said before.

Car looks nice with the 99 specs.
yeah well, i'll go the other way. my engine is healthy as hell but smokes like a french ***** when its cold out and i start it. condensate goes away when the engine is warm. it smells like excess gas if anything but that's just mine.

Thanks alot for your advices and comments. I asked the this japanese rotary machanic in SF and he said it should not smoke no more than regular piston car does in the morning. Just to feel safe I'm going to get another one, since its under warranty.

PhoenixDownVII, I think motego blue goes well with stock chrome rims rather than stock silver. When I wax the car the body and the rims shines like spankin' new car

What do you guys think of having a simple side skirts the car would it look too much, or it would look better with the 99spec. looks?

I'm currently debating this right now. I certainly think the 99 front end is the best, and if there HAS to be a wing (I'm a wingless guy ), its definitely best with the 99 wing. As far as the rear go's, its either stock or some sort of diffuser (as "bolted on" as it looks/flows). As far as hood I would definitely consider the Mazdaspeed hood...but sides? Perhaps Mazdaspeed? After all, its sorta like OEM Aftermarket if that makes any sense. I still don't like how most look like "slugs" attached to the sides, and most others put a straight line at the bottom of a very curvey car. Hmmm...perhaps molding on the sides is the best COA to make it more believable...

I'm with you on this one. I was a wingless guy for 2yrs. With original font, I liked it when it was wingless but now that I got the 99 front, I had to get the spoiler and I'm quite happy with it. Yep, I was thinking of the mazdaspeed side skirt! and if I had more money, I would got for the mazdaspeed hood as well. I'm just afraid of doing "too much". Before that, I'd have to change the rims. But I really like the BBS LM rims which costs about $5,000 which I can never afford to get.

Apexi side skirts

Identical setup but with Apexi rear skirt and different front bumper.

That side skirt is really nice. Goes well with the body line of FD.

Well since you have the OEM look front and back I think you should stick to the OEM sides.

Though the Apex sideskirts looks similar to the the OEM one, it is still different. Check out the picture attached.

Just my 2 cents.

that picture of the morning startup looks normal espescially if it is all white smoke (just steam from the moisture that built up in the exhast from cooling down over night)

a little blue smoke is expected at startup as well from the oil that's being metered into the engine....................

that's why it is imperative that you check your oil on a regular basis, my rule is at least once every 2-3 days if i'm driving my car on a regular basis

fd's tend to run a little rich on startup and that's probally the smell you're getting they tend to stink a little when first awakened....................
