Pics of my "series-8"
One of the beauties of a rhd country is the ability to import cars direct from Japan. (assuming you have a valid license).
Wanting an RX-7 for the collection, wasn't keen on the series-6 version (92-95) as there history may include......well worn, thrashed smashed etc etc.
Here are some pics of my series-8 (99-02). This car is sex-on-wheels. Pulls the chicks everytime I do a run into town on a Saturday night
Its a 2000 model "Type-RS" meaning, top line version. 206kW engine, 4.3 diff, Bilstein suspension, 330mm discs, 17" wheels. Love the factory boost gauge (where oil pressure went) & the Nardi sports steering wheel. Did you know the rear spoiler is adjustable on these.
Oh, its got just 8400km on the clock too..............

The car is beautiful. I wish I had the money/time to get a new FD over here.

unfortunately, it's a piece of **** (reads in mercury or something too).
you'll find most people who are serious about their car will be running an aftermarket gauge, as per usual.

The series-8 (99-02) version was the last & definately the best. You don't realize it until you have driven the series-6 & series-7 before it but Mazda kept on improving it.
To understand our car pricing here in Oz, you need a perspective. The RX-8 is US$37,500 over here. (Ripp off I know) The last RX-7 sold here was the series-7. (96-98) at US$58,500 (even more of a ripp off).
This little beauty has cost me US$34,000 so far as I did everything (import wise) myself through my company.
As for the boost gauge. It reads to 1bar (14.7psi) & on a cold night, can crack FSD. The 180kph speedo sux, but thats JDM regulation. When you have grown up in the metric system. MM of mercury is easy to understand. Old fashioned imperial measurements confuse me. Pounds, yards, miles....lol
The oil gauge is now a warning light. To make one work in your series-6 (92-95). You simply attach the "signal" wire from the gauge to the MAP sensor input to the ECU
