Getting to some of the questions presented earlier and some of the pm's, price of the car, I paid 25K for the car. It came from North Philly and it was heated garaged kept and it shows even more so after today and I'll explain. I took the car to get a Maryland inspection which passed with flying colors by the way ;-) and had a chance to take a real good peak at the under belly of the car and boy what a site. The bottom of the car looks jsut as clean as the top side believe it or not. I could not get over how clean the car was and that it reminded me of my both of my '98 Quicksilver Supra's which the first one only had 5K original miles on it and my current '98 Quicksilver has 22K miles on it. All the rubber exhaust hangers and all the boots and aluminum are perfect, not bad for a 13 year old car, huh? The verdict is still out on whether or not to mod the car, hold onto it and find something else to mod or sell it all together to a collector or someone who will take care of it. If anybody is interested in a *mint* CYM let me know...;-) you'll get a one of a kind I promise! Thanks guys for all the feedback and I just downloaded the whole lot of pics onto the photobucket website so you'll have to go to the 2nd or 3rd page to just view the pics of the CYM on its own or just scroll through the pics and enjoy some of my pride and joys and I think there are a few pics of yours truely in there with the biggest stud known to man Big ErnieT, he's the one holding the bottles in his hand and making those all so funny faces like he's go something stuck in his a**, love ya PERM!

Joe, it's Dustin, the one who picked up your supra from you. Derek is keeping your old supra pretty damn nice. It has sat it my garage since September of last year. He is away working on a private yacht, so the car has been sitting in my garage staying pretty. I take it out every now and then just to keep her running, but that's about it. It still only has about 27k miles on her. He ALWAYS has people asking him to sell, but he loves that thing too much. It is an amazing machine, but I love that FD you just got even more. That was one hell of a deal, good luck bro.

cabaynes 07-22-05 02:15 PM

damnit you bought it!!!

I remember about a month or two ago, the owner of that car posted a thread in the 3rd gen section here titled something like "Maybe time to let go of my 93 R1?" and he was talking about his 19k mile CYM that was always in a temp controlled garage. I noticed he was in PA and I PM'd him about pricing and everything, but he told me he had someone interested! haha damn...

I just got a mint 44k mile CYM back in February :) love it - I see you're in Baltimore, you should definitely bring up the cym to Newark, DE here and meet up with us for a little photoshoot :) Feel free to PM me, or on AIM: stokedxiv

Keep it clean, or else I'll hunt you down! :)

Nice car! Thank you for telling us what you paid.I dont feel so bad now that my 10,000 mi fd wasnt sold for 23K.

t51quicksilver 07-22-05 10:45 PM

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Hope you guys are enjoying the pics and your not making it any easier on me as to what I'm going to do about the whole mod dilema? If I planned on keeping and drove it and racked up some miles on her then I wouldn't feel as bad. I didn't buy it with the intention of storing it away and never drive to keep the miles down so that it will fetch a premium later on down the road if I decided to sell it but I can't help think that there really can't be anymore ultra low mile '93 R1's out there not to mention a CYM the more rare of the bunch so I actually feel guilty even thinking about modding her.

Hey Dustin what's up man? how have you been? you have to take my old QS out for a spin one day to the deli so I can see how she looks. I hope Derek is taking good care of her, if not I'm going to have to kick his ass! I heard that he had sold it? I guess that wasn't the case... anyways tell him he better look out I'm building another one basically duplicating my old setup because how well that combination worked out the first time but I got a couple tricks up my sleeve so he better watch out ;-) Take care bro and seriously I would love to see the old girl one more time and maybe get a pic with both of my QS's together, it would make for a good pic for years later down the road, kinda the old and the new effect.

Thanks Bob for the compliments and can't wait to see your car at the meet in person, I def. need to get a ride in that thing when Ray's done working his magic on her!

stokedxiv, yup that's the one indeed! He was a real nice guy and you could honestly see that he was almost in tears when we pulled off. Its kinda funny we were on 95 and I see this "thing" flying up behind me high beams on so I couldn't tell what it was until he broke to the left and passed me like I was standing still and then saw it was him in his 650hp Porsche 930turbo. He called me later on that night to tell me it was driving him nuts so he chased me down on the highway a half hour after I left his house just so he could get one last look at her rolling. I thought that was pretty funny. We'll def. have to get together sometime soon while the weather is nice and get some pics of your car and mine and Ernie's get all the local CYM's together for a group shot. You should try to make it down for the meet we are having at my Deli. Hey how about starting a CYM registry? Just a thought, we have one for the Quicksilver Supras' let me know and we can get the ball rolling.

coolvette I don't think your asking to much at all considering the rarity of these cars in our conditions. Keep it or just put it up there for what you think its worth, eventually some idiot like me will come along and buy it because that's what they were looking for and you know what they say beggers can't be choosers so they will pay. Guys buying SUpra's have been getting away with it for years now. Some people have it in their head they want a certain color, low mileage, or stock and will pay to get it. It just takes the right buyer and sometimes that takes time. To give you an example the prices for SUpra's have come down quite a bit to some more realistic prices for the most part but they can still vary from 20k to 50k depending on year, miles, and color. I picked up my 2nd QS for 46k and I supposedly got a "deal" yes it was pristine and only had 22k miles on it and was heated garage kept, bone stock yada yada yada but that's what these cars fetch still but a red car with the same exact features will fetch 10k to 15k less just because of a color. Its kinda crazy when I sit back and think about that I could have saved myself 10 or 15 grand if only I had chosen another color but there was a little more to it then just wanting another Supra. I had one before (QS) and sold it for a woman (big mistake) and now I'm just trying to relive the past and the only way was to find another mint QS car which I did and had to pay, was it worth it?............... now I'm not sure but who knows, one thing I realize is that cars are like woman you can't live with them and you can't live without them and there both dirty whors :-)

damian 07-23-05 04:52 AM

wow, great find!!!

I agree to what the smart ones say, do the reliability mods (DP, evens, et) and keep the rest of it stock. :-)

coolvette 07-23-05 06:42 AM

Your right about cars and woman, the lower the mileage the better!A low mi fd that was always stock and never dogged is a special find. Enjoy the ride.Get the trans and rear lube changed with valvoline synthetic. your wont believe how much better (smoother) it will shift..

a3dcadman 07-23-05 07:40 AM

I bought my 93 about 18 months ago with 19,310 miles and in pristine condition. It was the same scenario as yours, one owner, every receipt, original price tag from window, sales brochures, still smelled new, never driven in the rain, always garaged etc.

Picked it up in Reno and drove it home to Seattle. It had a leaky AST. Ive done all of the major reliability mods because I intended on driving it. The car is too much fun and I would probably go thru withdrawal symptoms if I didnt drive her. I havent had any problems, just a few issues, all of which have been discussed on the forum.

Take care of your car, fix the things that need to be fixed, keep it stock as possible. Save all the parts you change out because they can be put back on the car if you ever need to take it back to totally oem stock condition. If youre going to drive it consider the reliability mods an insurance policy. The car isnt really fully broken in till you hit 20,000, at which point the ECU programming automatically changes. So break it in and enjoy it before all the world supply of gas is gone, rationed, or outlawed.

I dont think that there are more than a handful of fd's left in this country that have less than 20,000 miles on them. Youre one of the very lucky ones. There were only 350 1993 R1CYM models imported.

The picture says it all :D

Mint low mileage FDs are priceless :bigthumb:

After resizing the pic the mileage is no longer visable but its 19500. Notice that vacuum at 700 to 750 idle.

Spirit_Rotary_7 07-23-05 08:03 PM

Very nice. Keep stock + reliability mods for sure.

nycrx7 07-24-05 03:32 PM

wow - thats just absolutely beautiful.

btw - both supras are yours?

You're faced with the same concern anyone would have with a low milage pristine FD. Even though its's been well kept, the car is made with 13 year old parts. Just looking at it and driving alittle will require cost. The car will draw you in. Those subtle squeeks will need pillow joint replacement. A rattle here or there might go away with an engine mount replacement. Don't forget to change out the fuel filter if it's not been done. Keep looking at it and enjoy

DHALL 07-24-05 08:55 PM

Hey Joe, I will definitely bring it up one day soon. It just sits in my garage, hasn't really been driven since the motor was built. He had lots of offers, even one for $59k, but he just couldn't do it. He loves that car more than anything. He blew the motor about a year ago and had it fully built, and then about a month later he left for the west coast and hasn't been back in about 11 months. I have to get the emissons tested this week, that should be interesting. It REALLY needs to be tuned, it was tuned REALLY shitty. Do you know anyone that could tune it? Do you work at Altered anymore? Well I will get with you and find out where the bakery is etc. Glad to see you're doing well, congrats with all the new toys, keep up the good work!!

edyellowr1 08-09-05 04:50 PM

Hey Joe,

Glad to see you're happy and swarms of people are telling you not to mod her.... ;-)

If you're that happy you should send me a check for what I was asking...not what you bludgeoned me to :-)

Regards, Nice guy in philly :-)

edyellowr1 08-09-05 04:51 PM

I REALLY wish you luck with her...!

Say hi to your beautiful and wonderful girlfriend too...

Ed

Is that Fiat spyder yours also? My dad was really into old fiats, had a couple spyders, and x/19's.

veilsidefd3 08-09-05 06:19 PM

no way, you gotta put an erebuni body kit, some nozzle lights, chrome spinners, and a huge aluminum 3-level wing on that. mabe some cool graphics on the side like a dragon or something. that would be sweeeeeeet.
