Pics of my new 19k mile CYM....
 

Well I just picked up my newest addition to the stable. She's an original owner, original paint/no accident CYM from Philly that has 19K original miles on motor/chasis. It has always been in a climate controlled garage and it def. shows without a doubt, all the aluminum control arms are still look new and the under belly shows that the car never say rain or snow like the owner swore. I thought lightning struck once before on my last CYM in terms of how clean and nice the car was when I bought but it struck yet agian when I went to pick this one up. The guy who owned it before me was very nice and you could tell it had been his pride and joy since he bought it new back in '93. He had the original window sticker and every receipt including many gas fill ups which was very funny to find someone about as anal as myself! I can't ask for anything more in terms of being able to find such a fine example of a well preserved stock FD in todays market. I'm very torn now because in my quest I never thought I would fine such a nice car and I'm now having reservations on whether or not to bastardize the car with a single and all the bells and whistles. But I bought a car to have fun with so now I'm at a crossing in the road as to keep the car and leave it alone (not likely), mod the hell out of it like all my other cars, or sell her to someone that will preserve the car and keep it like the museum piece she is, at least in my eyes. Its a hard decision but as parts are already showing up everyday at my door step the decision is swaying more to keeping her and making another clean monster like my old girl. What's a boy to do.....? Well on to some of the eye candy, I know you guys will appreciate these next few pics, let me know what you think!

Well sorry guys I just tried to upload the pics I took today but they seem to be alittle to big. I'm not the most computer literate guys on the net these days and I can't figure out how to shrink them to fit in this format. If anyone wants to post them for me I guess I can try to email them to you and try that way. Hope someone can help...

Joe, sign up for a free account at photobucket and then you can link them over here. It's always best to use MS Paint or other program to compress the photos down to 800x600 pixels or so, IMO.

Congratulations. I would definitely think twice too about tearing up such a mint machine...

There are so many, "If I had only kept it......." stories when it comes to other marques. If the FD ever becomes collectible....and that's a big if......a car like this will be one of the ones people talk about. Modded FD's are a dime a dozen. Unmolested, low mileage, original cars have become rare. So I vote for keeping it as is. If you've got other cars, what's the prob? And maybe you could take a middle course. Putting 2,500 miles a year on it won't change the value much and would still allow you to enjoy the car.

None of this is any of my business, of course, but so long as I'm at it..........Care to disclose how much you paid for this car?

It would be hard for me to keep it stock too. I bought mine completely stock, but with a blown motor @ 86K miles. My engine is almost done being rebuilt and I have after market parts waiting in my living room to go on her :)) If you decide to mod it, do it right the first time around.... That's what messes up all these cars out there, people trying to go the cheap rought and doing a hack job and taking short cuts.

Keep it stock - I have a 94 R2 with 25,000 on it that has never been in the rain or left out over night that I am keeping it totally stock...... There just seems to be something nostalgic about having one bone stock that is unmolested.

P.S. I'm 24 so if I can resist the temptation I would think most could........

i agree, a cym with 19k on it deserves to be kept stock.

keep it stock . if you got others to play with just leave this one alone. i didnt even think that people still had cmy rx7's with such low miles and shape. if i was you i would just be counting my blessing everyday just looking at it.

Stock is great. I'm kind of in the same situation with my low milage blk/blk R1..... but need to do things like the AST and radiator. even though it's low miles I'm finding that 11-12 years of age on the plastics and rubber is not that friendly.

F*** stock get a damn ast and radiator at least, maybe fan switch mod. Keep the bastard alive!!!!

STOCK!!! some reliability mods ok like above, up to a DP to lower underhood temps but that's all

Still waitin on those pics. :) At bare minimum, do reliablility mods.. You don't want that AST breaking on you and getting coolant everywhere in that engine bay. And don't do the Fan switch mod.. that is just messing with the interior and what not.. If you don't upgrade your ECU, Put in the FC Thirmoswitch, it starts the fans at a lower temp.

I have my fan mod switch wired into an OEM fog lamp switch in one of the blank OEM spaces in the center console. Since this car is an R1, he can do the same. Definitely do the fan mod!!!

Just don't touch the body :)

agreed. reliability mods, keep it stock ( you already have other toys ), and get us SOME PICS ALREADY!!!!!!!!!
