View of Dynomax aluminized "Ultra" muffler (It's straight through with one connection offset and the other, rear, in the middle, also available in Stainless. Mine was $79.00 from a retailer with a $20.00 Internet Discount from Dynomax still available. What you can't see is the accordian pipe from the cat to the mufller.

You should have gotten the stainless steel one. The aluminizied won't last more than 5000 miles. I know, I ghetto rigged both and only the stainless one survived.

Well, it does not look as good from the "spouts" forward, but I DO like the sound, and I am not getting any boost spikes. The midrange is vastly improved according to my "butt dyno". Very streetable (new word?) and very light. My N1 single was a beautiful piece of work - robotic tig welds and all - but it sounded like ****, and in my opinion - looked like ****.

You da' MAN!

Since I don't have any precipitation or humidity to deal with (in Tucson) I am hoping it won't go bad.

There is no such thing as rust in the desert.

Being true to my ghetto self I just could not fathom spending the extra $$ for looks. Especially when it is under the car.......

One GOOD thing about Dynomax........I guarantee you they would take it back and give you credit toward a new one. (if you INSISTED).

I ALWAYS do. Pleasant but intense - that's my style.

e.
RUST through will happen regardless b/c byproducts of combustion include water and sulfuric/nitric acid, i.e. all the good ****. It's the heat in combination with the rust.

I ghetto rigged Kevin Wyum straight through exhaust b/c it was so frigging loud even with a supertrapp muffler on it. The aluminized one burnt thru in like 3 mos. The stainless one lasted more than a year and then I replaced it with a PFS.

How do you get sulfuric and nitric acid from combustion? I haven't heard of that before.

Ron: I want to see some pics of your accordian section. I bet that looks GOOD!

Nah, I'm too lazy to jack it up to get a picture, but you can find it at www.McMasterCarr.com. It's called "interlocked metal hose". It's pretty simple stuff, you can find galvanized at any auto parts store, or heavy duty stainless steel at McMasterCarr. If I did it over again I would go stainless all the way for only a few more $$.

It can handle 550F. Stainless can handle 1,000F.

I'd just buy a Apexi N1 muff and weld it to some LARGER piping.

Sorry, that does not qualify as Ghetto. Name brands usually associated with FD3S's are strictly not allowed.

You must not spend more than a couple of bucks, do the work yourself and always use brands associated with Chevy trucks, etc, to be truly Ghetto. Oh, and none of the Ghetto mods can be seen easily or even APPEAR to be Ghetto.

It's unfortunately a very exclusive club here on the Forum and your application for membership is hereby denied, but you're on the right track. You need to spend LESS money next time.
