Congrats, man! I'm also on the edge of getting one. Prob is, once you think you have a good one, up come a few more candidates, I'm having trouble worrying that while I'm looking at another, the better one will be sold! Timing really is of the essence!

That's like the one setup every one wants. Except I gotta have black interior. That car is worth what you paid for it. Good luck!

Thank you all very much. I feel very lucky to have found this setup. I also like the black interior. But once i saw the Red interior in person, I liked it a lot more. I know a lot of people have to go look at up to and more than 10 Rx-7's before they find the first one. I got lucky, this is only the second one I have checked out. I just traded in my 97 prelude today. I want to go to sleep but i have to many thoughts going through my head.

Changing fluids on a used-car is just a standard precaution. You really have no idea how long they have been inside the vehicle. And getting the recalls usually/always fix something that was wrong with the car. Although they may have been done by now. Just call a dealer and check.

This is because the Mazda dealer may tamper with your mods or may not know what to to a car that has any. Mazda may also refuse to do recalls on a modified car. Also, if you modify after the recalls are done, then you can double-check the Mazda dealer's infamous workmanship. Since you (the new owner) don't know when the last time any of your fluids are changed, you change them all yourself and then not only do you have fresh fluids, but you know when they are last changed. You should also change your air filter. Better yet, get yourself a K&N drop-in cotton air filter (assuming it isn't already equipped with one).

I also recommend doing these things yourself.

congrats man... i couldn't sleep for awhile either before gettin my FD, and it was even worse afterwords....just drove her tonight for the first time in like 3 weeks, god winter's gonna suck, guess i'll just have to order a buncha stuff for her, do a major clean up, yadda yadda yadda...

i came close to getting three 3rd gens before i got my baby. you gotta post pics like much pronto, and is that 36k on the original motor? if so you've got one hell of a car there. and like jonski said, change all the fluids, filters, etc, so you know when they were changed. hell the previous owner of mine had a receipt of all the fluids changed before i bought it and i still changed them just to be safe.

i see you've been on the forum for awhile so you should know what to do first.

good luck with your car and try not to sh/t your pants when you first drive her

First, I didn't know the R models came with a leather interior? Also, the '94 red isn't the burgundy of the '93 It's more of a bright red and it's on fewer pieces of the interior. Is the red of this car a bright or dark red?

Thank you all again. I will be changing the fluids very soon, and probally switching to synthedic oil. The previous owner put a K&N filter on it and it is the origional motor that has 36K on it. It is an R2 and it does have leather seats. It's not touring b/c it does not have the windshield wiper on the rear, and it has a metal sunroof instead of the glass one. The only red inside the car is the seats and the floor, the seats are more of a darker red. Hopefully im not mistken leather with suede. But im almost positive it was leather. The R1's come with Cloth seats. Over the winter, if not sooner i will be doing all the basic mods to make her a little more reliable. Ya know DP, intake, exhaust, radiator, PFC, FMIC, AST. I'll probally switch to evans NGP+, i think thats what it's called. I will also be using Marvel mystery oil with every other fillup or close to it, heh i already have the gallon bottle downstairs and the little 4oz bottles full of it and ready to go. I'm guessing it's probally a good idea to change the spark plugs and wires too. I was thinking iridium #9 or 10 not sure, any suggestions??

R2's are sweet. Have fun and go mess around in a parking lot taking turns at 30 or 40. And also start off accelerating on on-ramps, get off at the next exit, and repeat. State laws say you can accelerate as much as you want going on the interstate so have fun!

It's a damn R2 ok guy's. Mine is a black R2 with black interior. Yes it DOES have leather, why? Because the guy ordered it that way, why? Because Mazda was dieing for sales. It's an R2, scratch the suede and I want leather, dealer obliged him. Good luck with your silver R2.

Edit* Didn't read his last post, I guess it is a touring.

To the silver FD owner, check for the front and rear for sway bars and check to see if you have 2 oil cooler's instead of one.

Its cool... Thats why in my post I said who knows... Cause I know of one Silver R2 that did have a factory sunroof in it. The owner had a certified letter from Mazda stating that too. But he sold it a while ago for a Yellow Viper. So thats why I was thinking maybe it was possible for a R2 to have a red leather interior.

Either way any FD with 36k miles is a good find. Post some pics of it and enjoy!!

Alright, I just got home from picking it up. It is so quick. I didn't really run it to hard. I wanna get used to it first. I love it though. This is like a dream come true for me. Tonight i may put the AST on it, because the guy i bought it off of already had one but never installed it.
