dont think it popped in terms of a seal going, i took the turbo housings off, no seal went through there, the blades on both sides were in tact. I am guessing the main bearing failed, not a seal, but when the main bearing failed all hell broke loose (the pulley was visibly wobbling when i pulled the car in) and that probably messued up all the seals in teh front rotor, dunno till we take it apart.

I won't let go

Yeah me too! I was lucky enough to do a couple laps with Fabian, and that thing was SO dialed in...my neck was actually sore after the session because of the g-forces on that thing!
Damian, I am eagerly awaiting a full report on this event and hopefully a video! Keep us posted!

>>Awesome car Damian, and great shots. Remember when Fabian owned that car when it was in the Bay Area.

thanks guys :-)
Fabian really had the car setup well. I am only doing small things here and there (and some big things) to take the car to the next level.
Full report to come soon....

Actually...looking at the two comparison shots, I just realized that you're actually using the same front end as before, but with the lights painted in, right? I thought this whole time that you had swapped it out because it looked so different! I really like the new hood and the way you set up that front end...looks mean. Did you install the side skirts or was it already on the car? I can't remember...
Nevertheless...I think you did awesome work with an already great car. It was actually because of Fabian's car that I chose to go with the RX6 single turbo...how do you like the new turbo?

in terms of body/aero, I added the side skirts, cf vetned hood, cf/lexan hatch, re gt2 cf wing, my custome undertray/splitter....
I loved the rx6, but it was so dang hard to get parts for, but I also really the r85 so far, it ran like a beast at RA. But we are talking track car here, I would go rx6 over r85 for a street car, and actually would stay twins for street car.

I agree with you on that. For a street car, I think the stock twins really are the best compromise, and they would actually be *gasp* legal on the street (possibly). I was having simply too many problems with the twins on the track (the sequential never worked right for me) and I figured since it wasn't smog legal anyway, so I decided on the RX6. As with any single, street-legal is out the window (especially in Cali).

I disagree. The stock twins suck. Way to much going on. And with the constant maintenance these cars need, single is the only way to go. An Apexi RX6 has such little lag that you cant tell the difference between it and the twins. Plus, its a million times easier to diagnose a boost problem (which would be super rare) and you can get more power from the single without working the turbo as hard as the twins. No comparison in my mind...........

Although I would totally agree with you Donny, there is the big problem for us Californians of smog legality. You think us Cali guys are exaggerating, we are not. I once went in a few years ago with my FC, near-stock, and the guy would not even test me because I have a K&N on the air pump. You can imagine what it would be like to get a single-turbo to pass. Of course I've found alternate workarounds, but all things said and done, a properly working twin setup with reasonable mods is the best compromise for the street here in Cali.

Yeah... what he said ^
I have a street/track car and I use the stock twins at 10psi. Sure I'm probably down on power a bit compared to the single guys but I want to keep the car street legal for CA. I also find that I'm just as fast as a single turbo FD unless they're running lots of boost.

I disagree Don, nothing spools like the healthy twins, the apexi is fast, but not even close to my twins in terms of spool.
now, in terms of reliable operation, simplicity, et, et.... yeah, apexi wins overall, hands down :-)

As far as emissions go, I thought that with the new Apexi kit you could still use all of your smog related equipment. Wasnt that the main purpose of the RX6B kit?

Hmm...well to each their own, I suppose. I've owned both (and currently run an RX6), and I can definitely tell the difference. I still love the RX6 and think it's an awesome turbo, but I would never tell anybody that it spooled just as fast as the stock twins.
In cali, it still wouldn't matter about the smog kit. I seriously doubt it's CARB certified. In Cali, they would fail you on the visual.
