Pic request please: Steering wheel at full lock left and right

Hi everyone!

When I bought my 94 FD it came with an aftermarket steering wheel. I installed my oem wheel for inspection but now when I compare the position of my steering wheel when at full lock from left to right it doesn't end up in the exact same angle.

Now I was completely straight when I installed my oem wheel but I'm not sure if the previous owner did the same.

Can someone please help me out and post a pic of your steering wheel when at full lock at left and then at right? Would like to see if the steering wheel ends up at the same angle in both positions.

Below is what I am talking about. First pic shows my steering wheel turned fully (to full lock) clockwise and second pic is fully counter clockwise. Is the steering wheel supposed to end up at the same position both ways?

Clockwise

Counter clockwise

Thanks,
Mike

So if you are going down the road straight, your steering wheel is straight?

Does the steering feel tight and good?

Hi Dale,

Yup steering wheel is straight and feels tight.

It just bothers me that when I turn the steering wheel fully clockwise to full lock, it doesn't end up in the same position as if I turn the steering wheel fully counter clockwise to full lock. I will post pics of my wheel when I get home for reference.

Could also be a sloppy alignment. I would look at the tie rod ends and see if one is threaded way in and the other is threaded way out.

You need to remove the wheel , move one tooth counter clock wise, then test again, angle should be the same in each direction.. That will center the wheel in the steering rack, then you need to move your tie rods Re center the steering wheel, you will see the front wheels are probably pointing slightly to the right. You will need to move each tie rod (lh out 1/4-1/2 turn, rh in 1/4-1/2 turn) both the same.. Wheel should be centered and car should track straight.
