Exclamation Pic of my new wheels on the car!

OK I finally got my new Bathurst RX-7 wheels put on my car. I found out a nice side effect of this purchase when I went to have them mounted. Other than the fact that they appear a lot cleaner than my stock rims were ever capable of because of their color they are lighter than the stock ones as well. This was an added benefit of this purchase. The guy let me borrow his refrigerant scale to weight them and the stock ones ended up being 15lbs 11oz and the new ones were 14lbs 6oz. That is a net loss of 1 1/2 lbs. of unsprung weight per wheel. I also like the new efini center caps as well. I might have to do something with the lugs and the annodized valve stem cap but that can be done later.

Well, I have a question.. I heard that 93 wheels were lighter than 94 and 95 wheels. Seeing that you have 94's.. how much is 93 vs. these Bathurst wheels??

No these rims are definately off a Japanese RX-7. I can tell by the casting dates. The casting date on these rims are from late in 95. If you look it has 12 little boxes with dots in them and then a date. My original rims have a late 93 casing date, that I believe makes them the second casting, where as these have a mid to late 95. Believe me I checked into it before purchasing them. Here is a pic of the date on the rim.

I don't get it? Why would you special order the same size wheels painted black just cause they were made in '95? You could have gotten 17" RS wheels from lajouse or 17" BBS spirit R replicas from Rishi.

Aren't Bathurst wheel's silver 17's (pic below)?

Depend on how much you paid for them.. I guess if you paid pretty low, i guess its good that you got those..

I recently purchased a set of 99 17's They are about a pound more than stock 93's and also wider.. paid 900 shipped from Japan..

Do you guys have an idea how much a good set of used spirit R wheels will go for in the US and/or Japan?

Thanks,

Victor

yes (I didn't know the model of BBS they were). The RG-R wheels you can get from ARD-T2 in 9" widths F/R. The Spririt R's are 8" & 8.5" (if I remember correctly). I only called them replicas because you would not be buying them from Mazda and they won't have the emblem center cap (if it even comes with one on the Spirit R).

Anyhow, getting back to the original thread starter. Those wheels look like "stock wheels painted black" and not Bathurst Type R wheels (see Bathurst pic below).

$1,000 (before shipping)-$1,500 (shipped) there's a set for sale on the other forum right now.
