PFC sending my idle to 3k when it hits 104C

Ok, does anything special happen at 104C that will send my car to idle like that? I mean seriously this is getting weird. Also...

my intake temp says 66C, i'm stuck in traffic and the water temp says 104C. I have a FMIC and a fluydine btw. Is this the temp range for such a IC/radiator location? What other ways besides venting the hood can i do to bring down temps.

yer running WAY hot. another ten degrees and its cooked. be careful.

water wetter...check the cooling system for air..bleed it...flush it...I dont have the fluidyne and i run cooler than that. get a new thermostat...the radiator cap upgrade etc..

do you have a front mount?
Do you have the fan mod?

In bumper to bumper in shooting around 101 usually, but today was unusually hot, i mean my intake temps were 66!

Also... Miami is HUMID AS NUTZ

yer gonna cook your seals...you should not be ever running over 100.

gotta keep those temps toward 85-90. 95-97 MAX...even that is hot.

104 is NOT hot, its gettign there, id onno where u all area gettign your readout from, pfc or a aftermarket gauge, but 104-106 is nto hot the coolant seals are not gonna give untill about 250 or so. u shoudl see about 190 deg in 65 deg weather srusing aournd. in stop and go it will go up to 221 bacause thats when your fans will turn to the low speed setting. at 226 they go into medium speed. unless you are driving it spiritedly and dotn ahve the fan mod u shoudl not see 104-106 temps. if i let my car sit and idle it will go up to 240 deg on my autometer water temp gauge thats when my fans kick on instead of the 221. my factory coolant sensor might not be reading right and kick the fans on too late. or it coudl be the ecu that doesnt knwo what its doing. eitehr way watch teh temp. if you dont have the fan mod do it. i swithch my fans on if it starts gettign close to 210

yeah, 104-105C is the highest it gets. cuz after that it gets annoying as hell when your car is just idling up and down, I just shut the car off but leave the fans on and just let traffic go.

104-105 isnt hot huh?

tell my o rings that in the first motor...and my side seals in the second motor too. they would like to have some words with you.

heat will damage them and make them brittle over time.

then...

cya later bank account

The Power FC is set to turn the fans on at 100C from what I remember. So you shouldn't be seeing higher then that for very long. Flush your radiator and make sure your fans are working properly. And do the fan mod or have someone with a datalogit change the settings to have the fans turn on at a lower temperature.

The most I see in traffic is 88. Recently I got stuck in grid lock outside NYC and the outside temp was around 100. Even under those conditions my water temps were still 88. Here is my setup: Greddy FMIC 2-row, PWR radiator, almost all water, fans set to come on at 88, custom spoiler duct.

When I first put the FMIC in I didn't have the fan mod or the duct. My temps would get up 95 sitting in traffic and 100 under extended high rpm driving. With the fans set to come on at 88 the temps hold steady at 88. The fan mod makes a huge difference with the stop and go temps, don't under estimate it. You can see for yourself by pulling the AC fuse and running the AC on high.

Here are a couple other suggestions:
-As everyone has said, make sure you get all the air out of the system. It took me about 4 days to do it.
-consider running synthetic. It's not related to the IC, but will drop your temps a couple degrees.

Hope this helps,

-Chris C.

if u have the fans set to come on at whatever temp it will not go much higher then that but the lowest your car will have for temp should be around 85C or 185F stock cars or teh ones without fan mods will go a lot hihger then that

your coolant rings will NOT fail at 105c which is 221f the car has been overheated before and u are seeing the results later. they dont just go as soon as u overheat it. unless your temp reading was wrong.

k, i guess i should go and get the fan mod done. i'm running about 50/50 mix on coolant. Also... it was 91F in miami that day with around 70% humidity in rush hour traffic. I normally dont' see anywhere near 104. Cruising on highway will max me out at around 94C. If i turn the A/C on it will drop to 89-91 while cruise.

When I overheated, my engine did the same revy thingy. I can only think of it as a safety precaution from the PFC telling you something is wrong or at least reving a little higher to circulate the little bit of water it has left

If you are living in Miami, you shouldn't be running a 50/50 mix. You should be ruuning more like 75/25 water/coolant. The "coolant" is there to prevent freezing and corrosion and to lubricate the cooling system. It actually reduces the heat transfer of the cooling system.

Get a datalogit and change your fan engagement temps!

astro is right....that lowered my initial op temps from 100 to a cool 89 degrees

the fan mod helps too.
