the pettit is the ugliest intake known to man. the m2 intake is by far the best looking. the pettit unit works great but every time I open the hood at the track or at the races some *** says "what the hell is that??? did you make it yourself? hahaha" whatever.

anyhow...Id get the m2 if I were you. The apexi unit simply sucks hot air from the engine bay...the pettit at least has the foam and sheet metal block off to keep the hot air away (uhm...I dont think it works that well unless you are moving) and the m2 unit is enclosed I believe...the m2 unit is the best from what Ive seen...it simply takes a while to get it.

the pettit is not worth the money unless you can get one for a couple hundred on the parts trader...it looks home made...poor craftsmanship.

Here you go, excuse the mess. This is the stripped down version, no silencers or anything since I dont use the airpump, and the BOV and CRV vent into the atmosphere. I have to disagree with art guy though in some things. To most he's probably right about the M2 looking better. It's a clean design and looks nice. To me though, I like the look of an open intake. The Pettit intake is a better unit than the box type because the Pettit unit allows the air to come up into the engine bay and flow over the filters and then into the engine bay. The box style traps the air inside the box, and if you talked to someone who knows about things such as this who isnt biased, they'll probably say that the open is better. I dont think there's really going to be a difference you can feel however, so its really a matter of which you like better.

Check out Nicks cold air intake I think it is a true cold air intake. I know that the Pettit is open in the back and hot air from the engine bay can be drawn into the filters there. I dont know about the Apexi intake. M-2 is restrictive, filters pop off, and pipes dont fit well. It does look trick though. And there service is as poor as it gets. N-Tech's cold air is closed off on the back so it has to take air from the nose of the car where it has not been pre heated. I dont think it is restrictive. Also I have purchased parts from almost every supplier and Nick is by far the best to deal with. WWW.n-tech.net will get you there.

Hey I admit the pettits look hideouse but I'am not a show car but i would like the engine to look nice and not ghetto rigged.
N-tech had a nice one but it said it was no longer in production...what does that mean I can't get it...if so why is it still on their web site?

Get one of these intakes if you can!

You may be able to find one on partstrader. Cold air and good looks!

I did not know the N-Tech was a no go. Call Nick and talk to him, he is a good guy. I have the Pettit and the only way I could get it to fit well was to cut off the blow off return and vent it to atmosphere and solder a 3/4" cap on the pipes. With it modified there is more room around that area also. Much cleaner space.

Hey glass man, that intake looks familiar! I've got one too, but have never installed it. I'm sure that Trev would be happy that you're making good use of yours (unlike me

if you put them all on an chassis dyno you would see that the Pettit unit is the best. Its cones are made by k&N and its a basic no bullshit kit. It gets the job done.. I dont like the apexi because it sucks in hotter air.. pettit is the only way to go!!

When I first bought the pettit intake I thought man thats alot of money for a such a basic system
It does however work well and I doubt the enclosed systems give any more horsepower.
Some people called pettit back and thought they left out the rear enclosure panel.
As mentioned the air is supposed to flow over the filters out the eng.bay to cool eng.compartment.
Thats great if your moving but I know alot of people(inc me)have fabricated an enclosure plate to seal off
the filters from underhood air.If your in a staging lane waiting with your hood closed or stop and go traffic
alot I think your better off sealing the back closed if you no longer run a pre cat

Hehe, actually it's just the picture. They are a tad dirty, but not too bad. Don't forget though, with K&N's, they actually filter better after they get somewhat dirty.
