Question Pettit AST paint removal

How do I go about removing the paint on the Pettit AST. If its regular paint I can use paint stripper but if its a powder coat will the stripper still work. Really dont want to sand.

After I removed my Pettit AST from the car, while messing around with it, I noticed that the paint flaked off very easily with fingernails only. I'd bet a propane torch properly administrated would remove it all in about a minute.

I wouldn't use the tourch (weakens aluminum and makes it soft) paint stripper will work fine.

Bead blast it. That why you dont burn your self and dont have a huge mess to clean up.

I used a die grinder and then polished.

I used some spray on paint remover and it just wiped off. Was much better then sanding it off because the AL is pretty smooth under the paint. Being smooth gives you a good head start on polishing it up.

i use regular paint remover in paste form from home depot for about 2.95 a can, simple, put it on with a brush for about 30 min and washed, the paint will come off quick, done 3 ast's this way before polish them or powder coat them

Open flames and aluminum makes soft aluminum, not a good paint remover for that material.

You guys were definitely right about the paint stripper. I didnt even have to polish it. All I used was some metal polishing clothes a friend gave me just to shine up the surface.
