Pettit '99-Spec Plateless Urethane Bumper

I've received this bumper and can confirm it is from the same original RE mold (has the "27-3086 OffRoad Use Only" imprint).

The price is $579, but this inclues an authentic 99-spec lip. Invoice showed $399 for bumper and $180 for the lip.

Fitment is a bit rough, overall shape is good but all of the edges need some sanding / some work. Maybe the mold has been duplicated / aged poorly over these years.

My body guy is fine with the product and thinks he can clean it up to make it look perfect. We've all seen 99-spec plateless bumpers before but I'll post some pics when mine has been repaired and then finished as I receive them.

Just figured I'd share.

Stephen

I would like to see the original fitment and the finished fitment if possible. I am not a big fan of my C-West front and would like a plateless 99.

This is literally turning in to the worst thread in the section, if you aren't discussing the Pettit replica or another urethane copy please do not post in here.

i have the urethane copy and honestly while i like the look of it the fitment is poor, i would suggest just biting the bullet and buying the real thing.

Should have posted pics of said "poor fitment" when you started the thread. . .interested in seeing what doesn't line up. . .rather than just hearing about it. . .

Good point...OP, go to the shop ASAP and take pics to post before all the bodywork is done so this "hearsay" stuff can be proven once and for all as real.

Don't wait until they're finished to take pics and post them.

I guess I was unclear, sorry. The bumper has not been test fitted -- I was referring to the quality of the bumper, its just a pretty rough mold and needs considerable sanding / touching up on its edges, regardless of fit (which will probably necessitate additional work). Car finally came off frame machine and will take pictures with bumper on the car and the work required for propper fitment soon.

chiefboon, if you're going to create a thread like this trumpeting some "find" you came across and then get people wanting pics of it before anything is done so they can see it just like you initially got it, you're indentured to serve the great unwashed masses and provide the pics or this thread has no point.

The 17th is when you said you would get pics up. It's the 21st. Before and after shots are what makes any information database invaluable as a resource, something I personally endeavored to when I was making all of my tech threads back in the day before I began moderating.

Please indulge us. We don't want to see just a finished-front-bumper-on-the-car shot.

I will take pictures before paint, showing the work required to make the bumper fit and highlight what has been done. The point of this thread was to confirm the source of Pettit's new bumper and provide pictures of the process to getting it fit correctly. As far as I'm concerned this thread is still on target.

While I agree that pictures are necessary if he would of purchased a new product and it didn't fit right... this is not a new product. I don't think he needs pictures. He simply confirmed the part number of this pettit urethane plateless 99spec bumper is the same urethane front bumper that has been sold far and wide over the years and is well documented with pictures and write up's all over this forum to not be a perfect fit. Thanks for confirming that it is the same part number chiefboon.

Thanks for going through the trouble of documenting what has to be done to the bumper. I am interested in this bumper and it would help to know all that has to be done.

Here's a pretty good start. Several others have also well documented the issues with this bumper over the years. I also had it on my old track car and documented either on here or rcc at one point.

Just checked with Pettit regarding this bumper and it is still $579 for the urethane, but now it does not include the lip which would be extra. So essentially a $180 increase in price; therefore this is now a terrible deal for the urethane plateless bumper.

You are better off going right to the source for the Extreme Dimensions product.
