That's not exactly true. It all depends on your setup. Fuel cut on the stock ECU will keep you honest if you have modified your airflow. On the Pettit Unlimited, there will be no fuel cut so your boost will increase if you have the airflow for it.

what im worried about is overboost with the petitt ecu i dont want to run more than stock, i would settle for a couple psi more if it gave it, im running catback ,twin intakes, have stock cat and thinking of downpipe,

You'll get a bit of a spike probably with the intake, but the stock cat will keep you in check. If you are that worried about it, you can remove the boost pills which will run the car at the wastegate spring strength (about 7 PSI) until you get a EBC. The whole point of the Pettit ECU though *is* to run more boost.

ya want to run 12-10-12, i know ecu will handle it but dont want to blow my motor , i would prolly have to port wastegate aswell, so petitt ecu should give me more boost per airflow mod and be able to keep my motor safe, without ebc to a certain point were i will need to port wastegate

I ran the Pettit ECU non-seq w/ported wastegate at 14psi using a GReddy e-01 boost controller and the car ran great.

I recently changed to the A'PEXi power fc so I could do some future mods but I was very happy with the Pettit ECU.
Go out and drive that sucker with the stock cat still in place you should be fine.

just finished installing boost controller but it doesnt feel like secondary is kicking in and it overboosts with it dialed in or out , does petitt ecu work with a mbc, i used a boost t by turbosmart, if i use stock pill what would happen to the boost? with this ecu?

The Pettit ECU uses the stock boost control solenoids just like the stock ECU. The only difference is that fuel cut has been changed (or removed depending on which Pettit ECU you have). If you had the same mbc on before the Pettit ECU, it's possible that it was never really working and fuel cut was happening to limit your boost.

BTW, with a mbc, you replace the pills with your valve. Check this link for an idea on a mbc setup:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-archives-73/my-boost-control-setup-perfect-10-8-10-pattern-178136/

I would still recommend a ebc setup.

i took the mbc apart and i tryed blowing air in the direction of flow while adjusting the mbc it wasnt letting any air in, i took the fitting off and pulled out the ball and spring it im guessing the spring is to heavy for low psi? iduno but seems to flow well when adjusting without the ball and spring, ill try it tomorrow im sure thats why im overboosting

i tryed stock pill with no luck, im begining to think the petitt unlimited ecu is not working with solenoids, i have no boost control and no secondary turbo, ill have to try the stock ecu, only change i made was ecu and intercooler and mbc, all vacuum hoses are good no leaks anywhere all in the right location

i just finished putting stock ecu back in with mbc i dialed in 10-8-10 spikes to 11,secondary works no issues with the stock ecu, so im guessing the petitt ecu is not compatable with jspec or the ecu cuts out the solenoids witch would have to be controlled like damians dual setup, does this sound correct?

Why don't you just run an EBC, that should solve all your issues.

The secondary is controlled mechanically and triggered by the ECU. It would work fine. I had a Profec B with the Pettit ECU with the emissions stuff removed and sequential twins.

petitt ecu wasnt triggering the secondary, thats why i assumed it cuts out the solenoids

Who's your mechanic? They should be able to diagnose this for you. The PowerFC works both on USDM and JDM FD's. On USDM, you need to cut 4 wires that I believe are the emmissions stuff. I don't see why the Pettit ECU would not work, There isn't any difference in the turbo control on from the Jap and USDM FD's.

I suspect something else is wrong, maybe someone who knows a little more about exactly how the sequential system works. Does anyone know if Pettit ever made ECU's that were non-sequential only? Because the secondary system can be disabled on the ECU.

Getting a PowerFC is of course the better option.

Pettit Racing doesn't make a mapped ECU for a single turbo. They make a map for stock sequential turbos to run higher boost (up to 14.7 PSI with the limited version).
