Permanently removing the rear spoiler
Thinking about removing the rear spoiler off the 1995 MB I'm buying this week. Any thoughts or experiences? I'd imagine that I'd have to get the entire trunk replaced to do it right, but I was wondering if there are any other solutions you might be aware of.

It's fastened by 8 bolts from the inside, as best as I remember. I removed mine a couple of years ago. You have to take the plastic off of the inside of the hatch -- be careful to watch where the clips go because sometimes they go flying -- and pay attention to how it's fastened near the gas shock area to the other plastic so you don't bend/discolor/break it.
You could trade hatches, or you could just take it off, sand down the area with the holes (eventually you'll have to do the whole hatch to repaint), and weld some steel in the holes. Then you have to grind it down flush ... prime, sand, prime, etc. ... prep, paint.

When I installed my Cusco Touring wing, I just had the shops fill the holes up like DK said......I personally think you should keep the wing, but thats just me......
