I've got the Odyssey PC1200 sitting in the storage bin...two weeks drained. had it recharged, so will be checking for a drain somewhere in the system.

From what the "battery experts" have told me, the ODyssey battery could sit for up to 2 years and still push out 1200cca so two weeks and going dead, means something is sucking it dry...

I recently switched down from the PC 925 to the PC 680, and so far no issues. i let the car sit for three weeks after my last track event, and it started right up yesterday.

 

back from the dead, my pc925 seems to die every few days, how the heck would you start looking for a place that would drain the battery??

 

i have a pc680 that died when the car was shipped when i moved, maybe the moving company left the interior light on or something (it took 6 weeks for the car to arrive)

i would jump start the car but it wouldn't charge so everytime i shut down it had to be jump started again. I took the battery to autozone to have them recharge it but after an hour in the charger it was only showing 0.48V and they said it needed replacing.

i got sick of this and got a generic battery i had laying around and connected it in parallel kinda like a permanent jump start and drove the car like this for about a week.

the pc680 was relatively new so i was getting ready to send it in for warranty replacement but when i disconnected the other battery somehow the oddysey came back to life!

it's been 3 months or so and i dont drive the car too much but the oddysey now holds charge just fine! 2 weeks without driving and it starts right away! how did this happen?

 

I think its the one thats says pc680.

 

Use a volt meter that measures current draw. Hook it in series with the battery. Now pull fuses until you find the circuit that is drawing current. If you have hooked anything directly to the batter (stereo equip, lights, etc..) you will have to manually disconnect this stuff to test. Should be below 20 milliamps.

 

I've had this battery on my car for a few years now. Since, it's not my DD the battery used to drain/die quite often. I've replaced it three times over the past four years and was about to get a trickle charger, but FINALLY decided instead to get a full-size battery mounted in the trunk in addition to the PC680 in the engine bay. I was mainly having issues because of all the strain on the lil' battery i.e. aftermarket alarm, and my hi-wattage sound system.


If the battery is being used on a relatively stock car and is disconnected when the car's down, it's a great battery. Otherwise, it needs a little bit of help to be great.

Did two years with this battery. Put about 2K miles on the car with it. Through all the issues I worked out with the car this battery held tough. I left the battery in the car over the two winters. Because I don't drive the car in the winter I would do a monthly start up to keep the motor lubricated. I did have to recharge the battery every time before start up. I think that with the combination of continuous cold and being drained and recharged led to its end. It doesn't even hold a charge now even being charged out of the car.

 

The Odyssesy can be deep discharged 400 times. BUT, and it's a big BUT---you must over charge it by 105 to 108%. A standard recharging by the alternator or a home charger only provides for 80-95% of the energy discharged. One example they give in the manual is that of the PC2150. You need 40 amps controlled to under 15 Volts in order to revive a deep discharged battery.

What you did was allowed for the 105-108% overcharging of the pc680 by hooking another battery in parallel. Enjoy.
