The passion, the hunt, the pride, and pics of my new RX-7 :)

What’s going on? Just wanted to introduce my new love to the RX-7 community. I have been part of the RX-7 community for a while now and mostly driving 2nd gens. But I have always been on the hunt for a super clean FD with requirement that seemed to be impossible to find these days (no sunroof, low miles, original motor, original owner, bone stock).

Two weeks ago I do my morning craigs list search and the title; “1994 Mazda RX-7 R2” pops up. I click the link, read the description, look at the pics, and I fell in love. The car has 22k original miles, bone stock, original owner, title in hand. Thinking that it is to good to be true I gave the owner a call. Yep it’s just as advertised, and scheduled an appointment to check it out. The car is located in Napa (approx. 45mins away from me) so for me to see it during the work week is quite a chore. I had to get by butt out of bed @ 5:30am to get up there with enough time to test the motor, drive the car and determine if it is a genuine gem of a FD.

Well let me tell you this car did not disappoint. Compression perfect, coolant leak down test good, boost pattern good, condition inside and out is immaculate. So I dropped a $200 dep. Just picked up the car yesterday and boy am I happy. I took a bunch of pics of the car you can check them out here:

I have already done some mods to the car with in 4 hours of owning her!!! I will post up a separate thread for that hehe.

What a fabulous find. Please don't tell me what you paid or else I might vomit.

Beautiful car. I too waited 18 months to find a stock touring. I think now it would take longer or a lot more luck.

you did the right thing, now enjoy it. You obviously are a rotor head and have some experience with the type of engine your dealing with, so welcome officially to the FD club. I must say that car looks to be in mint condition and you are lucky you got a 94 vs. a 93. those that are patient will reap the rewards for being so. Have fun man.

Excellent find but don't worry he paid A LOT (I'm guessing 19k or so) for that baby or he would of posted the price

I was about to pick this one up from craigslist....I emailed the guy too and he said to come down and check it out. He was originally asking for 18995, but I think he would have gone down in the price because I asked him if he would and he replied yessssss......anyways good find and good buy!

Beautiful! Nice to see another familiar name from the 2nd gen forum. I too owned many FCs before moving "up" to an FD, and I also waited a while to find exacltly what I wanted, and eventually found my BB '94 R2. As much as I really love FCs, the FD is in a different league all together. I think you will really enjoy the car, I know I love mine.

I know the feeling. I bought a bone stock 94 BB R2 five years ago with 30K on the clock and in immaculate condition. I envy you very much. I wanted a silver ' R ' but the closest to me at the time was 200miles away. It had more miles than mine and the owner was asking alot more. My 7 actually was in the town where I live. So, in my case I was kinda lucky. In yours, patience prevailed. Good Luck!

Yo,

Dana, congrats man!!

Talk about a score. I love being the first to call on an ad and get dibbs.

Rims look schweet, I like the Euro stretch on the rear rims. What's the wheel/tire combo and where did you get it?

*cough*

*plug*

Heh.

Good job man, you put a body kit on it and I'll fly out there just to kick your ***. Maybe a 99 spec rear wing, but that's it.

Woot!

Whooooot!!

Thanks for the complements guys. I have been driving the car for a week now and I love it. I am going to try to do a write up on the mods I did to it now that I have had a chance to live with them for a week.

The wheels are the AME Circlar Spec-R in Carbon silver 18x9 front and 18x10 rear. I have actually changed the tires to be a little less stretched since that pic (it’s the only thing I had at the time).

Body kit wise I have been jocking the C-West kit. So if I put it on will that force you to come out and visit Kev? Haha

trust me when i say dont do a body kit, maybe update to 99 spec but no more than that. Ive had a kit on my car for 2 years now and its been nothing but headachs. When i repaint in a couple weeks its going in the trash for sure
