Passenger Side Air Bag
Did Mazda put the passenger side air bag in 94 or 95 FDs? My 93 FD has no passenger side. I'm thinking about going to look at a 94, but I don't want the air bag. If there is an air bag, did they provide a key to turn it off?
Anyone ever de-power one? I'd be happy to do it myself, but I don't want to set it off in the process.
Thanks,

All 94s+ had the 2nd airbag.
No way to disable it.
I asked about this on my 95 back to the big list.
Nobody could guarantee a process in which to disable the bag without it blowing up, or accidentally disabling the drivers side too.

If you really don't car about air bags............I had a aftermarket steerign wheel and hid electronics where my passenger side was.
The passenger side is really easy to remove. Take off the glove box and there are 4 i think 12mm screws (maybe 10mm) on the under side of the airbag housing. Take those off and you can pull the entire air bag assembly out. Disconnet the plug and that's it.
I also unsrewed the plate 10mm nuts from the assembly so i could cover the gaping hole left by the removal. What you are now left with is a stock dash with a hidder HUGE storage compartment.
My air bag did not blow on my but then again you never know. I would be really careful........so if you don't feel comfortable i wouldn't recommend it.

I don't really want to remove it, just disable it. So when you did yours, you removed both the driver's and passenger side? I'm wondering if just pulling that plug on the passenger side would work?
