passenger motor mount=screwed... torque brace?

right now my passenger side motor mount is floppen around like crazy at idle and I was wondering if a torque brace might be a tomperary solution to the floppyness.

no. the broken mount will cause the torque brace to rip apart the fender to which it mounts.

gotham racing is having a sale on the poly mounts for 250 for the set of 2

Agreed. I have a set of Gotham Racing motor mounts and am very happy with them. The mounts definately improved shifter feel. Don't think of it as $250 to fix a broken part, think of it as a $250 upgrade.

torque brace will just break other stuff, it is not designed to band-aid a motor mount that is broken....

with that being said

you could use one, i have done it before in the past, just drive like a grandmother

Your engine shouldn't flop around at idle even with a broken motor mount.

I've driven cars with two broken mounts, the motor doesn't flop around.

a torque brace wont hurt but its not a fix. motor mounts arent that expensive, there just hard to change.

Actually it will hurt (as alberto_mg alread pointed out). TB's are to be used with GOOD motor mounts. They are not to fix broken or damaged mounts.

If you search the forum, you can find someone who tried this type of bandaide fix and tore up the mounting location of the brace.

Not only tearing up the fender but there have been reports of weakening the connection of the UIM to the lower causing a leak.

just make your own. don't drive it with a broken mount or you be replacing your PPF. Don't ask me how I know
Just fallow this thread https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...4&page=1&pp=15 Is very easy and it will cost you no more than $100. I don't get any vibration at all with the spacer under the frame. I think the thread tells you to cut them to 3" but I cut mine at 2 1/2" and is a bit hi. It won't let me put the strut tower bar back on.

Here are the pics of mi PPF when I drove the car with bad engine mounts

I just had my engine installed and picked up a set of the Gotham Racing MM. Mind you I paid $300 for mine since they just recently went on sale. OK, the good and the bad. Lets start with the bad. As soon as I fired up the car, the whole thing was vibrating like crazy. If you don't mind all your screws backing out on their own, then you can live with it. What I did was raise the idle RPM to around 1300 to smooth things out. Now for the good part. The whole drivetrain feels like it's brand new. You don't feel any sloppiness at all, it's like driving a brand new car. I'm going to keep mine on, I think it's a good investment, especially if you're planning on making some big HP numbers. Here's a few pictures
