Parts help needed

I was at the gas station last night and my fuel door broke off the car. When I took a closer look I saw that it had been previously broken and glued back together by the previous owner of the car. The Mazda dealership wants $166 for a new one including parts, labor, and paint. Does anyone know of a place where I can purchase the fuel door/hinge cheaper than this? Unfortunately, I'm not aware of anyone locally that I could check for the part and I haven't had much success trying to find a replacement online yet. It's barely attached to the car at the moment by the locking mechanism and I'm afraid it will easily fall off. I can't drive my car with it looking this ghetto! Any ideas on some places to check would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you can help me out.

People frequently are parting out cars from accidents. It is possible that you could find someone on the forum.

Couldn't a body shop do it a little cheaper? $166 is about right for labor, materials, part price, paint matching and necessary bodywork. Get some touch-up paint made out of the batch, regardless of who you go with.

try http:///www.thepartstrader.com for parted out rx-7s. i would just take the whole thing off, glue it really well back together, and get some touch up paint. $166 is way too much to spend for the fuel door.

BTW, you can get any touch up paint for the FD at the Mazda Dealership. they'll most likely have to order it but it will match perfectly and only costs $7.

montego blue = M8
vintage red = NU

do a search for the rest.

I considered going this route as well. I'm going to give a shop that I know a call and see what kind of quote they give to do the same job. A body shop may do a better job than a dealer as well since this would fall under their specialty.

I already tried to glue it back together. The previous owner had tried this and it obviously doesn't work too well. The main problem is there just isn't enough surface area on the arm that connects to the door, which is the piece that is broken in my case. I'll check out partstrader as well. Thanks for the ideas guys.

BTW, I got your PM Johnny and sent you a response. Get back with me and we can discuss it more.
