Unhappy Parking Brake Light won't Go Away!!!

Has anyone experienced a problem with their parking brake light not turning off after you release the hand brake? My turbo timer uses that sensor to cut power if someone jumps in and trys to take off with my baby and it makes me nervous that it doesn't work anymore.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this situation or is it a lost cause?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Brake fluid is full, brakes are in good condition. The sensor on the handle is what I was thinking though. Nobody has run into this problem yet?

I had that problem a week ago. I replaced my pads, and it went away.

Edit: I also turned my turbo timer off while it was occuring.

Maybe I need to bleed my brakes, haven't done that since I bought the car about 4 months ago. When I got it, it had a low brake fluid level, might have gotten some air in there.

Just went to play with it after I got off work. It's working now. maybe the fluid I added last night took some time to reset the sensor. Thanks guys!

Re-check rear pads? Speculating that over the years, if the cable has stretched a bit, it might get loose enough to set off the switch for the light, even if you have a little pad life left. It was with my car.

sounds like your pads are getting low. When you go to change your pads in the future be sure you watch the fluid level in the master cylinder, it might run up over the resevoir when you compress the pistons.

Not a good idea to compress the pistons and shove the fluid backwards through the system. Best idea is to open the bleed screw on the caliper and let the old fluid come out the bleed screw into a bottle.

any reason? this is the first i've heard of that, something that should always be practiced or is there something about the FD's system that makes it bad?

Sometimes those mc reservoir sensors get lazy,I have found that if you tap the sensor lightly with the butt end of a screwdriver the light will turn off. That is if everything else is ok.
