painting the stator

I've my alternator taken apart right now for polishing and was wondering what kind of paint I can use.

I've painted my calipers using the Testor's paint (from Walmart) and it's been great so far (Thanks Dale!), so was wondering if I can use the Testor's stuff.. What do you guys think?

As long as it's not a really conductive paint it should be fine. Leave the original paint on, but maybe clean it first with some alcohol.

I just bought a bunch of testor's paint (black). It's nonconductive enamel ... so I'll post pics once I have the alt housing polished.

I just use regular black engine paint (duplicolor 500* stuff) on the stator ring, while I powdercoat the other halves. Its been working well. I use that paint on all kinds of stuff, including subframes, engine block components, etc.
