If i know correctly, you need to use brake caliper paint specifically. Its the only one that holds up to the brake fluid..... if/in case it leaks.

if you want the mazda letters polished a good method is first before you clean the calipers sand and polish the letters with a dremel then clean the calipers with brake cleaner and just before you paint them use a q-tip with a little oil and go over the letters then after you paint them use a razor to peel along the corners of the letters then use another q-tip with paint thinner to wipe off any paint left and last finish them off with a little mothers polish.

ok this one does not show the caliper but i like the pic

Yep, ditto.

BTW, the Dupi-Color stuff sucks IMO. If you can find Plasitic-Kote, it did a much better job. I'm not sure if Plastic-Kote is gone (or maybe they became Dupi-Color since the containers looks similar). However, I had two cans of the high-temp paint from both; the Dupi-Color stuff didn't coat nearly as well as the older Plastic-Kote.

If people insist on "colored" calipers they should have them taken apart and powder coated.

This way they will get a deep shine and a much longer lasting finish than any painted caliper out there.

While I had my calipers torn down for a rebuild, I sent them out to be power coated. This finish holds up very well to the heat and brake dust. Also polished the Mazda, iIf you are not proud of the car Mazda made then sell the car. Those of us in competion can't just change out the brakes and besides, stock brake calipers with good pads, fluid and cooling can hold up to a lot ...

I painted mine using Plasti-Kote Brake Caliper Paint about a year ago and it's stood up pretty well. Next time I'll power coat them yellow (IMO that will work well with silver)

As a follow-up, I had posted earlier in the thread of my (red) caliper paint turning dark after several track events.

This was the Dupli-Color kit.

I recently have removed the paint (major pain in the ***) and am preparing to paint them again. And what I noticed when I dug out the can of paint is that it is only rated to 500 degrees (fine print)... well, no wonder it turned black! What a joke. How can they call that caliper paint?

Besides that, they charge a premium to include a can of brake cleaner, a crap brush, and a stir stick. Be serious.

I am going to do it right this time and get the VHT caliper paint that is rated at 1200 - 1500 degrees. I haven't seen it locally but it is available here,

http://www.raceshopper.com/brake_paint.shtml

I'll try and post some pics of the results.
