Outta gas....now it won't start
My rx7 was almost out of gas, and while I pulled it out of the garage and down the driveway, it ran out. So I went and got brand new gas for it....2 gallons. Well, I put that in and tried to start it, and there was nothing. It cranks over, but it sounds like it wants to start every once in a while, then it has nothing again....what the hell. Could it be flooded?

Don't mean to scare you but my friend ran low on gas in his TII and ended up taking a apex seal with it. I never go below 1/4 tank because of that but hopefully, that's not your case.

It's always good to start with the basics, so make sure fuel is getting to the engine first. I'd first remove the hose from the fuel rail, put a big rag over it, and hot wire the pump until you see fuel is spitting out. since you ran it bone dry, it's good to do this first just to make sure the pump and filter are not clogged up.

how many times did you crank the engine when you tried to restart it. Once when I ran out of gas (broken gas guage) i had to recrank it like 10-15 times to get the gas flowing again.

Yeah I remember the first time I ran out of gas, I had to crank the hell out of the car before it started. Then a huge cloud of smoke came out of my muffler then it went away.

GET MORE GAS! I bet it will start right up after that. there might not be enough gas in the plastic tray that the fuel pump pickup sits in. no gas = no pressure. hopefully it is as simple as that.

All right here it is. I took the plugs out and the trailing were soaking wet....the leading were just damp. I cranked the engine over a few times and gas vapors came out of the holes that house the plugs. Then I put the plugs in and tried to crank it. The car turned over a few times, but wouldn't start. The battery went dead, so I jumped it, and it still wouldn't start. It feels like it wants to, but it just can't get all the way started. I don't know what it is. I took the fuel delivery line off after the filter and there was gas getting there. As I cranked it....my friend noticed a little white smoke coming from the tail pipe....HELP!!!!!!!!!

shoot some intake cleaner or even WD40 on the plugs... let them dry ... stick them in....
but put a bit of motor oil into the housings, resintall plugs... crank over and see if it will start now.
btw filling up the tank to say 1/2 is a good idea to see gaurentee the pump is sucking gas, instead of empty air if it happens the 2 gallons of gas isn't sitting near the pump.

Anyone thought of carbon lock yet? He only rolled it out of the driveway... I've heard that cold start + short distance + cold stop (can)= carbon lock... Just a thought, and something to check.
