Opinions on how these rims would look on my R1?
What do you guys think of these rims? Ryan Schlagheck had them on his old car (pictured below) and I'm thinking of getting a set. 17x7.5 5 lug are only $165 apiece from Discount Tire.
In the pic Ryan removed the center caps; the caps have a red accent to them.
What with my recent run in w/an 18 wheeler, I'm thinking of going w/new rims if the price is right. 3 of my 4 stockers have extensive curb damage and one has been bent and re-bent to accept a tire.
Your opinions matter guys...what do you think of the styling?

no offense but those are some ugly rims they are too ricey plus they are not wide enough you need atleast 8 inches in the width not 7.5 you would loose cornering performance.

Hmmm...
What about these?
17x8 Mille Miglia's, $199 apiece.
17x8 TR Motorsports Sniper's, $179 apiece.
a closeup of the not-too-well liked Fittipaldi Avus's (Avi? whatever the plural of Avus is )

This is only my opinion but,
The first rims, are pretty close to the nastiest rims I've seen on a FD.
The 17x8 Mille Miglia's, $199 apiece look good. I don't know what they'd look like on.
The rest...pitch them.
Blitz wheels are always cool too.

... you get what you pay for.
a performance car deservse performance rims.
get something that's light-weight and won't taco when you hit a big bump going around a hard corner.
stay stock, save up, and get something worth getting.

PS - that being said, I still haven't found any rims that I'm dieing (sp?) to put on the car
PPS - I don't like those first rims, and I'm not a big fan of the others.... I like to think of what will look good 6 years from now and go for that - trendy is bad, especially with cars -
example: Buik Reatta. blech. counter example: Porsche 911;
example: chunky 3 spoke rims. counter example: 5 spoke rims (will always look good on a car, as long as they aren't all frilly & chrome)

I think I am way to old since I actually like those rims. Of course I grew up when Craiger SS rims looked bad *** on a 69 Camaro. If you do not know what I am talking about, I prove my point that I am to damn old.

hey rich,
i dont like the wheels on his car
i agree.....get something lightweight and really strong
ill probably go with the kinesis K85s or enkei rp01s or ssr integrals
the kinesis are my most favorite i think
also.....go with a wider wheel than stock man...7.5 is smaller than stock. go with a 8.5 or 9.5 wheel and get the extra traction and also looks:p
can someone please post some pictures of these wheels i mentioned above on a 3rd gen??
oh....and i plan on going with 18x9.5 all the way around......maybe 10s if i can somehow get them to fit in the front

wheels
I like the look of SSR Integrels, they are the least offensive to me. Back when I first bought my R1, I was thinking of putting on OZ Mito Modulars. Those are the only two I'd consider.

Actually, I love the SSR GT1's...I saw them on an FD at KD Rotary awhile back and stopped in my tracks. I know Spyfish wants 'em; I might beat him to the punch . Maybe I'll save up for those...

The best, fairly inexpensive wheels for an FD include
SSR Competitions
SSR Integrals
SSR GT1
Enkei RP-01
Stay away from any wheel that isn't at least 17x8.5 width (fronts) and/or 17x9 (rear)
90% of the aftermarket wheels you see will not work on our cars, they are just too thin.
Some brands you might want to check out: Advan, SSR, Volk (there is somebody selling them for cheap in the wheels forum), and Racing Hart. Also check used wheels at www.thepartstrader.com but be WARY as some of those wheels do NOT fit RX-7s. You want an offset of 40 as a minimum, closer to 50 is ideal.

I Love my Racing hart C2's.Mine are 18x9.5 rear 18x8 front. Thats my vote. Sorry for the bad pic does'nt do my car or rims justice. Don't go with the fittipaldis. The FD is a exotic sports car keep this in mind when buying rims get rims that are going to impress not look they belong on a honda. Just my .02
