She gave out on me... I slowly maintained the car since I bought it with 83,000 miles on it. I'm just happy it was strong enough to go 3,000 miles from Va to Ca. I guess it was just her time though. Just when I got her back on the road when I replaced the radiator too. For some reason I'm a little okay about it. I guess I'm just looking forward to rebuilding it. It just sucks that I'm borderline broke at the moment. Got to start somewhere I guess .........FIONAAAA! WHHHHHHHYYYYYYYY! It's okay baby... You sleep now .

Thanks. I might take you up on that offer one of these days, but I got a rotary mechanic that has a little shop just a couple of miles from my house. He's got a website started at larsonsrotary.com

I'll be sure to keep you guys updated, but in all honesty, I probably won't be able to get started until late spring to early summer . Don't have the cash flow at the moment.

Mine made it to 80k before I decided to rebuild. I suppose that I could have kept it on the road for a while longer, but since I don't drive it in the winter I figured what the hell.

not bad. friend of mine got 110k out of his, and he really wishes he had just rebuilt it instead of letting it blow an apex seal and take a housing and a turbo along with it.

Mine blew at 108k (my fault). Suck it up! Now this is where all the fun begins.

Sorry to hear about that Flynn. At least now is a good time to do all those little things people like to do when they have to have the engine rebuilt.

BTW, I'm daily driving my FD now. Got a whopping 10 minute commute everyday to my new job.

Yea you can never trust those shitty factory brittle 3 piece apex seals. Rebuild when you can to avoid additional damage if they let go. Funny thing is, everything else within the engine will be perfectly fine and with-in spec if the engine was taken care of. The one non damaged housing in my 108k engine hardly had an edge wear and no corner flaking. My side and corner seals are all well with-in spec as was my step wear on the side plates. NA rotary's have been going 200k for years. Turbo rotary's can also achieve this, just not with the original factory 3 piece seals. The extra heat and pressure with-in the turbo engine and the engines tendency to be more detonation prone make the seals more brittle. When the top piece gets shorter as the miles pile one, they can't be trusted as they can easily be broken at slightest little detonation. They are the weak link!

See my above post. At the very least start saving. You really could actually get away with opening the engine and only replacing the apex seals, oil control oil ring seals, and a full gasket kit if your still stock. Modified engines need a little more attention. Go buy the RA rebuild video. It's a really good starting source for a DIY'fer.

I've got a fully built 13B for sale if you're interested. Dowel pinned, low compression rotors, large street port, etc. Low miles, professionally built.

Mine made it 83,000. I beat on it daily since I bought it with 59,700 miles. Would have lasted a lot longer but a 20psi boost creep killed it last month. Gay part is I really wasn't beating it when it blew, lol. Sounded cool when it blew though.

^ It all depends on your resources. Who you use to rebuild, what you want as far as additional performance ect. If your using a specialized shop to do the rebuild and mods, that 6k could disappear very quicky. However if your like some of us who know how to fab and do our own work, you could do a **** load of work & mods to an Fd.
