My neighbor knows some mentally unballanced guy that works for Boeing who has one with less than 18k miles...he bought it and stuck it in storage.

I would pull a carfax on the cars you see with low mileage only because that I found out that you can actually roll the mileage back with the proper equipment..not sure if this is true or not but I believe it though

You dont really roll back the mileage. With a scanner you can reset the odometer back to 0, so yes, odometer fraud on electronic odometers is just as easy as mechanical. Actually, its easier.

3.5 days left of a 7 day listing and no bids. 25k starting (and reserve not met) for that? Even with the low milege, no thanks.

The swap to 5 speed isn't hard. It'd be nice to have that low of mileage, on a 10+ year old car.

No, but try finding a manual transmission with > 20K.

I agree. But I'd hate to pay >25k for the car and still have to put out $$ for the parts, and the hassle, to change over.

if that car has only 19500miles on the body and 2000 miles on the engine, why would they need a new engine after only 17500?? and then decide to sell it after 2000 miles after the engines had major work done on it.

surely the FD doesnt have problems at such low milage?? not serious enough to sell it.

yea well low miles could be alot worse then you think. yea the visual condition of the car is going to be great. but you have to figure that the car is 11 years old and with only that kind of mileage that it has just sat around ALOT! and one of the worse things you can do to a car is let it sit! with the car just sitting and not running, when you do take it for a drive something is bound to break, just cause it hasnt been run that often. somebody once told me that he knew somebody that had some old 50's classic car, i dont remember what it was but it had less the 10,000 miles on it. he basically just kept it as a collector car, but he told me EVERY time he did take it for a drive something went up. after time **** under your hood will lose its durablity, it will deteriate(not sure if spelled right), and when you do get around to driving it, it wont beable to handle it and something will break. im sure you can ask anyone that knows alot about cars, that one of the worst things you can do to one is not drive it. but like i said, everything that meets the eye will look perfect, but when you start pushing a car like that your definitely gonna run into problems. just my two sense

I bought my '94 w/ 23K original miles on it. Before purchase, I had a rotary specific mechanic go over the car THOROUGHLY from top to bottom and he found absolutely nothing wrong with it and was impressed with its condition. The only issue the previous owner had with the car were dead batteries from rarely driving. Under my ownership, I've had zero problems with the car.

well,I guess my FD must be the exception because it has just over 21k miles on the original engine w/300+rwhp. With the exception of hp mods and routine maintenance I have not spent a penny on it. I doubt there is anyone with a high mileage FD or high mileage whatever car that can say that.
