One headlight dim and goes up slower than other? What could be wrong?
Alright, here is the problem. When I turn the **** to turn on the headlights my passenger light goes up slower than the driver's light. On top of that the passenger one is dim and orange while the driver's is bright white. When I have them turned off and just press the button to put them up without turning on the lights they go up and down perfectly. This is very odd, any ideas??
Thanks,
-Charlie

hehehe, I just had the exact same problem, which I just got done fixing a few minutes ago. If I had known this was up I would have taken pics.
Does your turn signal indicater in the cabin on the side of the slow pop-up light also blink really fast? And when you are looking at the fron does the yellow bulb blink or is it the white bulb that blinks?
Your driving light (or maybe the turn signal bulb) might be going bad or burnt out. I have a 99+ front bumper so replacing them was fairly easy for me. Not sure if it will be as easy for you if you have a USDM bumper.
-hit the headlight button to keep the lights up
-take off the black headlight cover (total of 4 screws, 2 screws on either side of the headlight)
From there I had a clear line of sight to the turn signal and driving light bulb. All I had to do was twist the harness off of the bumper and yank the bulb from the harness. You dont need to take the top headlight cover (the one that stays flush with the hood when lights are down) you only have to remove the black part.

Wow, its funny you mentioned the turn signal indicators. The right turn arrow on my dash stays dimly lit and then eventually goes out. I have to go have a leak on one of my new tires fixed (I have bad luck) then I'll try checking the lights.
I'll also look over the grounds. The wires on that side of the car got wet with coolant (one of the other reasons I have shitty luck) when my radiator hose got a cut in it.
Thanks,

My driving light wasn't actually burnt out, but it was really dim. I only noticed it because the 99+ spec oblique lights are clear and the bulbs filaments can be easily seen.

Alright, I swapped out the blinker light and the little one from the front lamps and still no go. I tried hooking up a different headlight as well with no luck. This can only mean the problem is in the wiring right? Would the side marker light have anything to do with it? From what I can tell it lights up just fine.

So that means there is a problem with either the wiring harness or motor and maybe the grounds like yellowbird said. When it gets light out, I will check out all those things. So much for an easy fix.

just to throw in i have the same issue and jiggling the wires or running over a bump seems to help
check the connectors and stuff. mine is passenger side and the blinker comes on dim and the dash light for my turn signal on that side comes on dim. all that wonderful stuff.

Why would the blinker light be staying on all the time? Could this be a short between the positive for the blinker light and the positive for the little one, or a bad relay maybe?

LOL, i had this exact problem as well, the dim blinker light staying on when headlights were turned on etc.
Pissed me off too, because at times, when i shut the car off, the headlight would then continue to stay dimly lit <-- guess i had a more severe case
anyhow, bumps and hard stops seemed to rid the problem at times...at times the passenger light would become demonic and at night time sporadicly raise and lower itself while driving
It was pretty gay, probably really annoying to other drivers. I had to disconnect the headlight motor and manually turn the **** to raise and lower the lights
Anyhow, the problem just went away on its own (after like 6-12 months of sporadic occurrence) I was going to go with a sleek headlight kit to remedy the situation. Fixing the grounds and stuff will (obviously) fix the situation.
Laters!

I had exactly the same problem and cured it.
