OMP with rotary aviation adapter leaks

Hi guys,

I have a rotary aviation OMP adapter in my car. I installed it last year. Now it's leaking and don't know exactly where cause I can't see clearly from under the car. Do you guys ever had a similar problem with the RA adapter? I used two new oring during the installation and I'm sure I installed them correctly. Should I have put RTV on the around the oring to seal it correctly?

Now I don't know if I will be able to remove/re-install it without removing the twins. I remember it was painful to install with the engine out of the car, I can't imagine how it's going to be with the engine still in the car. It was pretty tight.

Thanks,

Alex

Yes you should use some silicone the next time you take it off, o rings could harden up as time goes by and leak.

You shouldn't have to accompany an O Ring with RTV. You should only have to lubricate it with its associated fluid. Are you running stock OMP lines? How many miles are on them? The best thing you can do is wipe up and clean as much as you can and then observe it to truly see where the leak is coming from.

I'd say contact the Rotary Aviation guys and consult with them. Damian is top notch and very helpful. I've not had any issues with mine.

I'm using SS OMP lines which have about 1000-1200 miles. I don't think it's leaking from the lines. I'll do as you say and clean the engine and check where it's leaking.

I've already contacted them and they said that I could put some RTV on the oring even if I think it should not be necessary.

One thing I forgot to say is that it was a bit hard to align the adapter with the front cover holes. I've been able to fit it but maybe there is a stress due to this that makes the leak. Did you experience the same?

Thanks guys.

No it fit perfectly. Maybe you have a production issue. And I meant to say Dominic not Damian.

I had to drill out my RA OMP adapter in one of the holes to make it fit properly.

Do you guys think I can check for the leak by putting a vacuum/pressure pump into the oil feed line? Can I break something? Will this inject oil in the engine?

I ask because I can't start the car right now.

I usually just clean the engine well, and you can then trace the leaks. I run the rotary adaptor and run an external 2 cycle tank into the adaptor. runs great.

clean her up and check for leaks.
