OMP removal question.

I have the Oil metering Pump currently off my new motor. ( I plan to put back on asap) But my question is there any settings that need to be adjusted when not using the omp? I read in the rx7 bible (big green book) that one of the reasons the car may idle rough was related to the OMP having problems. So if it is removed can it cause the car to go into limp mode?

Are you running the stock ECU?

I can't quite say much about the stocker as I haven't had one for some time, but most after market ECUs won't care whether it's there or not. It will just complain that it's not getting any signal from it.

Far as I know, PFC don't go into limp mode because of oil metering pump.

I don't think SPO had OMP on his FD.. of course I can't remember since it was like 3 years ago..

I thought you had to run premix if you are not running an OMP? Otherwise, how are the apex seals getting their lubrication?

Disconnecting the OMP or having a bad OMP will put the stock ecu into limp mode. There is nothing on it to adjust. Pettit does buy burned ones and sends them out to get fixed.

You're right. It doesn't.

Then we run premix. There's plenty of debate about whether it's a good idea to remove it or not. What kind of premix to run. What ratio. Some even run it in addition to the OMP. It's all about personal preference in the long run. I don't think there have been any adverse effects with any of the combinations or methods that everyone has done. I personally run (typically) Castrol Super Outboard at roughly a 120:1 mix. Never had any issues. It's easy to get and relatively cheaper than everything else.
